We recently spent about a month traveling in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. We mostly stayed in B&B's and the best, by far, was the Hawthorn B&B. Jennifer and Don were the perfect hosts. Jennifer makes amazing breakfasts. The B&B itself is a work of art. It has been completely remodeled, with great attention to detail. One... More

Our 6-day annual stay at Hawthorn with Jennifer and Don Paterson. Both superb hosts in the lovely setting of Chester. Comfy rooms and a well decorated home with wonderful east coast art every where. I saved the best for last. Jennifer's made-from-scratch-every-morning breakfasts were a culinary delight and always well presented with a smile and a 'more coffee?' enquiry from... More

Ed and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawthorn B&B. Jennifer mapped out various day trips, Don gave us coffee with warmed milk first thing in the morning (and homemade cookies whenever we wished), and our surroundings both inside and outside were restful and comforting. The decor in the home led to many interesting stories and everything was spotless. We... More

Hawthorne B+B is absolutely one of the very best B+B's that I have ever stayed at. Jennifer and Don are such gracious hosts who welcome you with open arms and hearts into their beautifully appointed home, which is so much more than a refurbished, historic turn of the century cottage in the lovely village of Chester along Nova Scotia's south... We came from BC to visit family and stayed for a week with our 14 month old son.....and it was wonderful!!!! We weren't sure if they'd take us with a baby but they welcomed us with open arms. This place is cozy, clean and seeped in history. Jennifer & Don did a wonderful job of making us feel comfortable. The... More

My wife & I stayed at Hawthorn Cottage 3 nights. It exceeded all our expectations. Jennifer and Don were the perfect hosts, friendly, well informed about local sights, history and restaurants. Our room was spotless and supremely comfortable with crisp white linen and luxurious pillows...bliss! (no ensuite but a spacious shared bathroom adjacent) Jennifer's breakfasts were to die for! They... More

We stayed two days with our 18 month old child and we really did not wont to leave. The room was great and the sleep was even better. Breakfast was what dreams are made of. Fresh Scones, home made granola and baked eggs made just right. The service was even better. Our child has Type 1 diabetes and the Pattersons... More

My wife and I spent three nights at Hawthorn Cottage during a month long tour in eastern Canada and it was the best place we stayed all month. The rooms were well appointed and the bathroom had a great shower. There was space to relax and read on the main floor with lots of books and art to enjoy. Breakfast... More

Hawthorne cottage is a splendid B&B with the perfect amount of east coast character. Situated in beautiful Chester, the cottage offers cozy and comfortable rooms and is a short stroll from both the harbour and the village center. Jennifer and Don Paterson also serve up an incredible breakfast. The homemade granola and all other baked treats are a definite must.... More
