Recently renovated, the inn offers exceptionally clean and comfortable accommodation. Our room was large, and easily had room for the king size bed and all our baggage. This is not 'fancy', but certainly adequate for the area, and the friendly staff were very helpful. The breakfast highlight was the warm biscuits and cinnamon rolls, and we were sent on our... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. Dave Cameron and his staff are just so friendly and accomodating. And, the included breakfasts were awesome - excellent homemade cinnamon buns, and homemade breads. The Red Shoe Pub is in walking distance - THE place for Celtic and Breton music. We also visited the Farmer's Market on Sunday - this was very interesting.... More

Recently booked Apt # 1 but discovered it was a downstairs room which was unsuitable for our needs. Staff changed us to an upstairs room which had a deck at the end of the hall where we could sit in the evening. The rooms have no in room coffee which for me was a major drawback. Spacious and well appointed... More

We chose the MRI for a 3-night stay because of its proximity to the Red Shoe, which turned out to be an easy, 10-minute walk down the road. We got so much more than what we expected. All staff members, including the young ladies who were working the front desk and pizza kitchen at our Saturday night check-in, were sincerely... More

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the Mabou river inn. We stayed two nights and loved it. The room was spacious, very, very clean and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was large and very clean as well. The staff were wonderful, very helpful and friendly. We tried their pizza and it was very good. The breakfast was... More

We booked two nights here and were pleased with the friendly and helpful welcome we received, with the spacious, quiet and clean room, with the incredibly comfy king-sized bed, and especially with the made-fresh-each-morning sticky buns and biscuits. Dave provided good advice about travelling the Cabot Trail and ensured that we had enough sustenance so that we wouldn't have to... More

If this is your first time in Cape Breton, you will soon discover that the friendliness of the people is a main attraction. Mabou River Inn offers fantastic service, spacious rooms, and we just felt really comfortable there. The walking trails around the water are beautiful. The location is great as the Red Shoe Pub is down the street and... More

We stayed two nights at this inn and were very happy. We were traveling with our teen-aged son and booked a king room with a pullout sofa. The bed was great and the pullout was also fine. The inn is nice and quiet; its decor is comfortable rather than fancy, but it's totally clean and has everything you need. The... More

There is a lot to like about this place. I did expect more for the money in such a small town, though, but compared to the few other places nearby it is considered a value. Like some other reviewers, we stayed in a bottom floor room (which is mostly below ground). It was spotless clean but so narrow there was... More

Friendly welcome, and extremely comfortable, quiet room. Nice linens, lots of conveniences (a kitchen is available, and a laundromat). Generous continental breakfast, with home made pastries. Mabou is wonderful spot--breathtaking hikes, lots of music, and convenient to beaches (too cold for us to swim, but wonderful beach walks.)
