We had a room in the “Main Lodge” building which is behind the reception/dining building. It is old-style external access type motel building over two levels – either a flight of steps up or down from the parking area. The other blocks looked newer and had internal corridors. Our room, though dated in style, was spacious and very clean. We... more
The Silver Dart is a basic motel on the Cabot Trail - situated just outside of Baddeck on the lake. I will admit that the grounds were really nice, especially the view of the lake. However I did feel like we could have stayed some place nicer for this price. There seemed to be a lot of nice B&B's in... more
Just came back from the Silver Dart in Baddeck. It was a true holiday for a family of 5! We stayed in a chalet which has 2 double beds. We phoned for a cot, and within 5 minutes an air mattress was brought up to our room. The room was fine for the 5 of us for our 2 night... more
After being at the Silver Dart Lodge last summer I had it in my mind I wanted to go back. I had a really nice surprise for my 60th birthday when my family from PEI bought my plane tickets to come over for the Celtic Colours festival. Of course we stayed in the Silver Dart lodge. The first weekend we... more
We stayed at the Silver Dart Lodge at the very end of June 2006 for 2 nights. The Good: The lodge is very nice, the location is fantastic (great central area), and the view of the lake was excellent from our room on the second floor of the main lodge. The room was clean, and the lodge has internet and... more
My wife and I stayed in a chalet for four nights as a base to explore the rest of Cape Breton and could not fault the accomodation. The chalet was clean, safe, quiet and warm (log burning fire kept the place toasting - once we got it going!) and had its own spotless kitchen area and bathroom. Have breakfast on... more
We stayed at the Silver Dart Lodge for two nights as part of a coach tour. What a gorgeous place! Our room was in the west lodge and had fantastic views of the lake; the room itself was huge and the beds very comfortable. What we liked was having the verandah out the front of the room, where you could... more
We stayed in one of their self-catering chalets on the top of the hill. The decor and furnishings were a bit like 1970s but the view was superb. The staff were very helpful: when we complained that there were not enough pots and pans for cooking and that the fridge was broken and did not work properly, we received additional... more
This is a great place to base yourself to tour Cape Breton. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. The Restaurant was superb with a good Buffet Supper & Breakfast. The view is spectacular. Get yourself out of bed one morning during your stay to savour the coffee and Krista's (Krista is the hotel chef) Oatcakes while watching the sun... more
