My daughter and I stayed for one night on May 17th, 2013. We had reserved a room in the Inn but since they were working on some painting and other things in the main house, we were upgraded to a nice room in the hotel. The decor was a bit dated, but who cares? Really friendly staff and a perfect... More

Let me first state that I love Cape Breton and would sleep in cardboard box if it meant being able to be on the Island. That said, we've stayed at the Telegraph House several times and have found it to be well-suited to our rather meager needs. We don't spend much time in the room when we're there, but the... More

This Inn is located in walking distance to the harbor and the bell museum. The welcome was friendly even in the off season and the room was spacious and clean with a simple but fonctional outfitting. If you are looking for a clean and comfortable bed in a good location this hotel suit your needs excellently.

The house is very cool, and we were lucky enough to come in the off season to get the whole place to ourselves. It was like spending the night alone in a haunted mansion, cool experience. We spent most of the night in the living room with a bottle of wine in front of the fireplace. The owner Shawn was... More

Our 3rd floor room #19 was well appointed and clean and the bed was fine. The Bathroom was spotless. However, we were disappointed with the general run down condition of the common areas including the carpet and walls outside our room. The exterior staircase which we used to access or exit the room was in need of maintenance. The first... More

We had prebooked 4 nights here; on arrival we were given a small, rather pokey room. The room opposite was vacant, almost twice as big and brighter so we asked to swap, which was readily agreed. Since the place was almost empty I wonder why weren't offered the larger room in the first place. The next morning the room had... More

I am on the borderline of rating between average and very good. We planned to stay on Cape Breton for three nights and explore by motorcycle. We chose Baddeck for its central location. Telegraph House is in the hands of the fifth generation and Sean is very proud of his and the inn's heritage. It does show its age just... More

Any hotel visit is a very subjective experience, as contingent on the company you are with, the occasion, the trip you have had to get there, as it is on any hospitality the hotel can ever provide. But when your host (the hotel's owner Sean) assures you that the fire will be lit and the kettle will be on when... More

Requiring two single beds, I requested room #4 as pictured on the website, but was given room #35 (not listed). The room appears to be an add-on to the house, and the entrance is located outside, near the inn's main doors. You do not go through the inn to access this room. The room was clean, with the very basics... More

We stayed here for the second time, as we liked it so much last time we were in Baddeck. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the view was very enjoyable. My favorite features were the deck with two chairs and a table, A/C and a spacious closet. It is a bit of a hike up to the 3rd... More
