Cape d'Or is often overlooked by tourists in Nova Scotia, a shame, because this B&B offers not only great views of the lighthouse and Fundy Bay coastline, but also one of the best small restaurants in all of Canada. I'm sure many people are discouraged by the walk from the parking lot to the B&B/restaurant down a steep hill but... More

We spent just one evening here in Room #1. It was the highlight of our 10 day Canada trip this year. To say that this place is magical and special is an understatement. It's at the end of a road, private, quiet, and totally original in look and feel. The lighthouse is still operating (via the Canadian Coast Guard) and... More

This place is just amazing. It's 5 stars for the view and location alone. Darcy is just an added bonus in my view! At first I was a bit concerned about my car on the long gravel/dirt drive to it, but my word, it was so worth it. As others have mentioned, it's remote so travel light. Park in the... More

I cannot say enough good things about Cape D'or! The view from the top is nothing compared to the view at the bottom. No fences (so hang on to young children!) and the drop offs are breathtaking. During low tide you can explore some caves on one side the cape, and you can walk for miles along the bottom of... More

Not sure where to start here as everything was WOW. Once you get down the hill (travel light) the view is spectacular if you can catch it between fog ins. Towering cliffs, rugged rocks and lots of wildlife.Woke up with 2 deer outside window followed by 6 more that we saw including 2 spotted fawns. Watching the tide go in... More

We made the trip to Cape D'Or for dinner after a day of sea kayaking. We were there just before the summer season was getting underway and we ended up being the only 2 there for dinner. Darcy asked us a few questions and then proceeded to whip up the most delicious "fish & potatoes." The haddock was delicious with... More

This charming restaurant with wonderful food and a warm, friendly chef/owner was a highlight of our trip to Nova Scotia. It was even fun getting off the beaten path to find this little place and well worth the short hike down the hillside to get to it. Once there, the view was incredible and the natural setting quite stunning. The... More

Be prepared for a rough few miles to get to this lighthouse. The road is in need of repair or paving. I couldn't go over 20 mph in any stretch. But the view once we got here was breathtaking. You can see for miles in most directions and just enjoy the peacefulness of the lighthouse and surrounding area. I'm sure... More

Incredible views. Be prepared for a steep hike back up to the parking lot, but the experience is worth it! The wind, the waves on the crashing rocks are a perfect setting for this lighthouse. You can visualize a stormy night and shops searching for safe passage.

Staying at this guesthouse was the highlight of our trip to Nova Scotia (enjoyed it more than Cape Breton). The setting is amazing, the room comfortable, and the meals extraordinary. We stayed two nights in Room 2--one night is not enough time to enjoy the scenery of the area. Darcy is a very casual and enjoyable host. The people we... More
