Couldn't be closer to the ferry terminal! There is a nice bakery in the heart of the old town. We were only there overnight but would return in a flash. Elizabeth's son and wife will be taking over the BnB as soon as the parents have the heart to retire.

This B&B is run by a very elderly couple. Rooms are small, the house is not very quiet, and the limited breakfast is serve-yourself because the owners don't get up until 11:00 a.m. It is close to the mall and the ferry terminal, and is acceptably clean.

This was an interesting place to stay with an elderly couple in their 80's that have operated for 27 years.. Our room was comfortable and clean with a closet size private bathroom. The couple like to sleep until 11AM so they set out breakfast with lots of instruction sop we could help ourselves.

Very nice. Elizabeth was on top of the ferry delay and expected us late. The breakfast was fine. The room was a little warm, even with the air conditioner on and the bathroom was small. But, my wife and I enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Only one plus: Close to the Ferry. The rest: very poor breakfast. Owner did not show up. Collected the roomrate the evening before. Poor shower(cabin) in a former wardrobe. (water leaking into the room.)

We stayed here recently for one night after our visit and to be able to catch the ferry the next morning. The room was adequate. The hosts were friendly but did not appear at breakfast time which was a very basic help yourself affair. Satisfactory for a one night stopover en route. Limited restaurant options in this town.

We arrived without a reservation and the host Elizabeth, was welcoming and friendly. The Caribou is less than five minutes drive from the Port au Basque ferry, and provided a comfortable, warm and quiet stay before we set off for a drive across Newfoundland. The room was was clean, warm and quiet and we walked down and back (5 minutes... More

We had a short but very pleasant stay with Elizabeth. She is a wonderful host and very flexible and accommodating! We got in from the ferry very late and she was out on the porch waiting for us to arrive. The location is super close to the ferry, which makes it a very ideal place to stay upon arriving. After two weeks touring the fabulous province of Newfoundland we decided to stop in Port Aux Basques for two nights prior to our ferry to Sydney NS. The purpose of the extra night was to spend time driving to Rose Blanche lighthouse and other towns in the vicinity. Henry met us at the door about 10pm. He was organized wih... More

The area is kind of stark. No trees. Very plain old fishing village. However, Elizabeth and Henry make up for this with their hospitality. The B&B is very cozy altough the rooms and bathrooms are small. Everything is very tidy and clean. Lots of knicknacks which makes the place homey. The hosts are very eager to talk about Newfoundland history.... More
