The outside of this hotel looks like it came straight from 1960 but the interior is modern and updated. Although it is next to the highway it isn't very noisy. We had a very early flight and didn't think the continental breakfast would be open but surprise not only was it open but they made hot breakfasts to go. The... More

We had been warned by our tour director not to expect much at Deer Lake, but I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms have been updated and even have a Keurig machine. The coffee, therefore, is actually drinkable. The motel is very near the highway, and I thought it would be noisy, but it wasn't. Had I not been on tour,... More

I decided to stay at the Deer Lake Motel for one night after a late flight arrival. The airport is very close but far enough that you will need a ride to the hotel. I checked in after midnight with some very helpful and friendly staff. The room was on ground level and faced the highway. In spite of some... More

We enjoyed our three day visit and would stay there again, The staff in the motel and the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. Seniors and Handicapped must book early and request a main floor room, there is no elevator and quite a few steps to the next floor. Jungle Jim's restaurant has a great menu, but it doesn't open... Hi Tanya, Thank-you for the review, however I think there has been a slight mix up in the motel name. The Deer Lake Motel does not have a Jungle Jim's Restaurant. We have our own family restaurant and we are located on the Trans Canada Highway. Jungle Jim's is located at the Drift Wood Inn. Either way it is great... More

We stayed at this motel coming into Newfoundland, and Flying out of Newfoundland. The rooms have been renovated, clean with white bedding (brown accents). Bathroom is renovated, but threw me off a bit, not used to having the sink in a separate room across from the toilet & tub rm, but makes it easier when multiple people are sharing the... More

Perfect hotel for a short stay. Friendly staff. ATM did not work with my (European) Visa card. Has a simple family restaurant attached (I did not like the food, but my fellow travellers were not that negative). There was a (planned) power outage in the morning, but the kitchen staff went out of their way to arrange for hot coffee,... More

The lady on the front desk deserves a gold medal for customer service!!!!! I stayed the night of the 13th and arrived there about 11 am. She did EVERYTHING to get me into a room early and I appreciated it so much. The restaurant food was excellent (very tasty) and not too pricey. The room was clean; supplied with everything... More

Clean, modern comfortable room at a reasonable rate. They serve a first rate buffet breakfast as part of room charge. Easy access to Trans Canada highway and Viking Trail. Good place to stop after getting off the Port-aux-Basque ferry.

We've stayed at the Deer Lake Motel twice in the last year, both times on busy travel itinerary when coming to, and now leaving, Newfoundland via the ferry service. The place is completely "no hassle". We booked over the phone quickly and easily. Check-in was great, the rooms tend to be small, but are newly renovated and very clean. The... More

I stay at this Motel quite regularly. It is conveniently located for those late night arrivals and early morning departures. The staff are simply amazing. Very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nice, beds are comfortable and breakfast is perfect.
