We stopped in Deer Lake because a storm had hit and we couldn't drive any further. We stopped at the Driftwood Inn because we had read some pretty good reviews via magazines and the internet. The rooms are overpriced over $92 for one double bed, that was so uncomfortable, I thought about sleeping in the bathtub... however the bathtub was so gross... I opted for the bed. The rooms are extremely small and you can tell the hotel is dated. I would not recommend. It is indeed one of the worst places I have stayed in, in all of Newfoundland. I think the hotel should reduce their rates, cater to average people who are looking for a cheap place to rest their head and get out of town early in the morning & give up the baloney about how great of an experience it is. Go to Corner Brook if you want some comfort.
I did like the food at Jungle Jims though.
