This 5th generation manor rivals a Relais and Château. Luxurious and elegant accommodations, gracious proprietors who in addition to catering individual breakfasts also host an evening social. By far our favourite B&B in Newfoundland. They certainly have set the bar higher for B&Bs. Pamela & Richard

The homestead of sailing captain and ship builder Captain Blackmore, now restored and a fabulous B & B! The hosts, Gary and Shelley Blackmore (grandson of Captain Blackmore) make you feel so at home you won't want to leave! The "spoil" ( a good Newfoundland term meaning they cater to your every need) you a breakfast and the at night... More

Garry and Shelly are the most wonderful host! The Captain Blackmore Heritage Manor is beautifully restored, with every attention to detail that one can think of. The hospitality is second to none, and I am close to high maintenance! They were overly accommodating, I never really thought that I would say that about a place. The tea in the evenings... More

We found this the best experience on our Newfoundland trip. Garry & Shelly were true hosts, welcoming and inclusive. If you stay here, we highly reccommend you partake in the 8:30pm social hour/mug-up. Durring this evening gathering we learned a lot about not only the property & hosts, but of a lot of the Newfoundlander's habit and traditions. The rooms... More

Wonderful experience from start to end. Garry emailed my booking confirmation as soon as we got off the phone. He was there upon our arrival and greeted me by name. I spent a couple nights with my grandmother; he made us both feel at home and treated us like family. He helped bring our bags to our room and gave... More

We stayed at this beautifully restored house, which once belonged to the grandfather (captain Blackmore), of the owners Gary and Shelly. We had a wonderful room overlooking the harbour and it was such a treat to go outside on the balcony and watch the wildlife. The breakfasts were exceptional and a lovely extra touch was an evening snack with tea... More

The room, bath, bed all very nice. The home has a lot of historical significance and interesting pieces on the walls. Garry and Shelly fantastic hosts, and provide a nice touch with tea and sweets in evening, for guests to meet each other, and chat about their travels if they wish. Breakfast is individualized to your taste and time and... More

Garry and Shelly were friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and provided a wonderful experience in a historic house restored to its original condition with modern amenities. We could not be more pleased with the house, the owners, and the beautiful sites on the Bonavista Peninsula, situated between Trinity and Bonavista Cape.

Garry and Shelley are consummate hosts. We felt at home from the moment we arrived, and the Newfoundlander Suite made us feel like dignitaries. A very nice extra touch is the 8:30pm gathering for all guests, with tea, sweets, and cheese and crackers. We got to know Garry and Shelley better in a relaxed setting. On our second night, a... Gary immediately greeted us by our name, helped us with our luggage, recommended the places to eat. What a welcome! And the evening get together is the best way to learn about life in NFL, with other (local) guests sharing their experience, and visiting guests giving their recommendations. A memorable night and stay in NewFinland ( those who we shared... More
