We had a great time at Captain Blackmore's. The room was great. Attractive, clean, convenient to Bonavista and Trinity. Terrific breakfast cooked to order. But the owners were the best part. Gary and Shelly are very nice and very helpful but never intrusive. Each evening we had tea and chatted with them about our day and they offered suggestions for... More

Certainly this is a terrific B and B. We loved our stay there, always felt our inquiries about the area were addressed w/ great care, as they provided us with accurate maps to trails. We were allowed access to the washer/dryer which was a great benefit. The breakfasts and evening gathering w/snacks were lovingly prepared w/ special jams in the... More

This was our second visit to Captain Blackmore’s, and we were not disappointed! This is a wonderful place to stay, and is central to all the sightseeing, hiking, and dining that we wanted to do during the week. We stayed in the Newfoundlander Suite for 4 nights, which gave us plenty of room, as well as a nice private balcony... More

I can't tell you how much my husband and I enjoyed our stay here. We were only here for one night in August 2014, but this place was special enough to leave a lasting impression. We wish we had stayed longer! The manor, the service and the hosts were impeccable. Gary and Shelly have really done an excellent job of... More

Gary and Shelly Blackmore clearly poured years of hard work and inspiration into restoration of his family's heritage home. Magnificent, in an historic town. They are wonderful hosts; the "evening tea" was a lovely time meeting other guests before heading up to a well appointed, immaculate and comfortable room for a great night's sleep. Breakfast was excellent, and the whole... More

I have stayed at many B and B's, and this is one of the BEST. Evening tea was the highlight. The owners set it up in the dining room, and it is optional. But, it was a unique way to get to know more about the hosts and the area and meet other travelers. All the rooms are well appointed... More

I can only echo what other reviews have already said. Captain Blackmore's was a standout on our 8-day trip to Eastern Newfoundland. My husband and I knew as soon as we walked in the door that we had chosen very well. Garry and Shelly spent many years and much hard labour restoring the house to ensure that it kept its... More

What a fantastic first experience in a B & B for my family. Garry and Shelley were so knowledgeable about the area and were wonderful hosts. Rooms were comfortable and unique. We really enjoyed the 9 pm tea and generous breakfast that we couldn't finish. Bonavista worth the visit. We loved seeing the puffins and whales from nearby drive to... More

First off, this B and B is beautiful - it was actually Garry's grandfather's home and has been beautifully renovated with great attention to detail. We had an amazing room with a lovely view of the harbour. Garry and Linda welcomed us with open arms and made sure that we were aware of all the things of interest to see... More

When asked what he liked best about our Newfoundland vacation, my 10-year-old son mentions this B&B first! Garry and Shelly went "above and beyond" to make our stay enjoyable, not only providing excellent accommodations and meals but they offered help w our daily activities too - recommendations, directions, etc. Thank you so much for a great experience!
