We were not sure what to expect coming in for the night on a very cold and rainy day. We were coming from Elliston very dispointed not having seen any puffins that day. Garry and Shelly welcomed us with open arms and we felt very comfortable from first moments. The place is the ancestral house very well renovated by Garry.... More

Garry and Shelly work exceptionally well together in providing a high level of attentive hospitality in their family’s historic setting. Both are exceptional ambassadors for the historic past of Port Union and the Bonavista Peninsula, and are articulate visionaries for wanting to move ahead with developing a prosperous future for their local community. Our two night stay in the Manor... More

This is a beautiful home, Gary and Shelley are wonderful hosts and it was an overall great experience to stay here. We highly recommend it! The breakfast was delicious as well. Our room had a balcony overlooking the water. The evening tea was a nice touch and we got helpful travel hints from Gary and Shelley. It's close to Bonavista... More

We recently stayed at Captain Blackmore's while visiting Newfoundland and had a wonderful time there. You step back to earlier times in this handsomely restored house. Our room was very comfortable and totally clean and the food was delicious. What most stood out for us was the terrific hospitality of the hosts, Garry and Shelly, who helped us with any... More

We have just stayed there Sept 7-8, 2013. The setting is really exceptional on the water in Port Union. Our room had its own balcony overlooking the water. The house has been beautifully restored by the owners and is immaculate. From water coolers to coffee to all amenities it was all there. The breakfast was great and included anything that... More

My wife and I stayed at this place recently and had a great time. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and very helpful in assisting us with things to do and see around the area. The rooms were very clean and breakfast was very filling. We were lucky to have found this spot and look forward someday to going... More

Stayed in the Newfoundlander Suite for three nights - Aug 27 to 29 2013. Garry and Shelly made our visit exceptional. We were welcomed like family and invited for tea that evening (and every evening) so that we could meet with our hosts and the other guests. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. Garry and... More

Stayed at the Heritage Manor in 2006 and enjoyed it immensely, so came back 7 years later to find it's continuing to improve. The breakfasts are a real treat - well made to order. The fresh fruit and jams are extraordinary...you'll see Garry out picking wild blueberries in the early evening. Pick some yourself! They're beautifully sweet. Garry and Shelly... More
