As soon as you get to the main entrance of the Lodge, you see a warning message which tells you to keep the main door closed since bears and racoons are around. It is true! Just when we got in the hall we so three bears and one raccoon. Outside of course! Rooms are very comfortable and with all facilities... More

Great location with wildlife on the doorstep. Good base for exploring the north of Vancouver Island. Kayaking, whale watching and bear watching trips available nearby. It is possible to arrange pickup from the lodge's own jetty for bear/whale watching. Rooms plain but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Food very good, especially fish - very fresh and well cooked. Try the... More

We spent two weeks on Vancouver Island and our stay at Hidden Cove was definitely the highlight of the trip. The south end of the island (Victoria and Tofino) are certainly more touristy and busy. Hidden Cove Lodge is remote but easy to get to, we saw bears, eagles, orca and dolphin from the living room! This B&B is off... More

We stayed here for three nights in September, the weather was great and the wildlife viewing was wonderful, bears on the beach, raccoons on the balcony, and whale watching trips available out of Telegraph Cove (25 mins drive away) However, as an hotel it felt less than comfortable. There was no-one on reception when we arrived, our room seemed a... More

The lodge, incredibly, was built by the owner (Dan)...a testimony to his determination to succeed. If you are looking for a modern, sophisticated establishment this lodge is not for you. It is rustic, the rooms in the hotel part are very small, with a need for some additional exclusion of light in the bedrooms. That said Julia, the chef, produces... More

I didn't want to leave this wonderful place. From the welcome we received from Dan and the staff, the bear outside the restaurant window, the otters racing along the jetty, the great food and the marvellous lounge looking out on to a dream of a view, it was all so special. I must return!

My husband and I stayed at this lodge for two nights earlier this month. I would describe it as "rustic" and basic accommodations. We had originally reserved a room in the lodge but the owner called us and asked to change our reservation so that we would be in the small cabin so that is where we stayed. The small... More

We stayed for 2 nights in August 2012. The lodge is in a fantastic location, and we chose it hoping to see wildlife. We weren't disappointed, with Orcas passing by, the lovely resident Raccoon, we watched a Mink under the jetty and eventually saw a Black bear foraging in the bay. Given that most people are there for the wildlife,... More

Seeing a Black bear and her cub within 30 seconds of getting out of the car certainly got us off to a great start! The lodge was beautiful with a superb view and our room very nice indeed. We ate there every night and the food was superb and very reasonably priced. Dan was a fascinating character and we enjoyed... More
