Staying at the Hummingbird was a real treat. The house has a beautiful design and is filled with local and Inuit art pieces. There is a fantastic lounge and more than adequate kitchen available to guests. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were wonderful and filled with ingredients grown in the extensive vegetable and fruit garden. Highlights included... More

If you are looking to get really far off the beaten path, Hummingbird Lodge on Gabriola Island is the place. Hosts Janice and John Raven are welcoming and the B&B is excellent. The rooms are large and comfortable, there is a private lounge space for guests and a kitchenette if you want to do a little self-catering. Which you will... More

I went away for a weekend getaway with a friend and this was a perfect choice for it. The house was beautiful and decorated with all kinds of art: both local and a collection of Inuit pieces. We were greeted with hummingbirds even before we knocked on the door! The public access to the beach was just across the street,... More

No need to look further - wonderful setting, warm hospitality, very tasty breakfast with all of it home made and home grown sourced from the property including the cider. The lodge is gorgeous bright and spacious. Ample sized rooms with a guest lounge and kitchenette. Decks and verandas look out over green gardens and trees. The feel is very much like... More

Janice and John open up their spacious home for you to sample their love of art and delicious food. Bedrooms were more like suites, clean with extremely comfortable beds. The livingroom off the bedrooms was ours to relax in, complete with wood stove and a stunning panoramic view of their gorgeous property. John entertained us with wonderful stories of his... More

We stayed two nights at the Hummingbird Lodge as a treat after a camping holiday in mainland British Columbia. It excelled all expectation - peaceful location, beautiful, modern bedroom and ensuite, huge comfortable living space to relax in, well equipped kitchenette, expansive decks both on our room and on the general living area. We loved the cosy fire, as nights... More

We just stayed one night but will stay there again when we return to Gabriola. Beautiful, rustic lodge with large, homey, comfortable rooms. Our room had a private balcony overlooking a forested hill. We loved the huge common room with the very large deck and the many interesting objects to look at. Super breakfast with home made apple cider. And... More

And that tells it all! My husband and I had reserved just one night here but after arriving, meeting Janice and getting the tour of their magnificent home, we asked if there was room for us to stay another night. Our expectations were completely met - clean, tranquil, well resourced, comfy bed, interesting art, books, music in the spacious guest... More

This is a first rate B&B. Fresh from the garden food and interesting people combined with an authentic West Coast crafted house made this a great place to stay. We loved it last year and were equally impressed this year.
