We stayed with Barb and Marcel for 3 nights, this was a delightful experience and both Barb and Marcel gave us so many ideas of what to do whilst staying with them. They were excellent hosts seeing to our every need. The rooms are delightful and the setting quiet and peaceful. The Alpacas were a joy to watch as was... more

Barb and Marcel provided not only a spotless bed and bath (the most restful night of sleep during our entire stay in BC), but answered our questions and made suggestions that enabled us to get a lot more out of the surrounding area.....a very beautiful part of Vancouver Island! Their garden, pastures, and quiet country lane were just what we... more

My daughter and I return to Thyme Away every summer for a perfect summer holiday on Vancouver Island. Thyme Away is centrally located to many things to see and do - beaches, shopping, arts and crafts, naturally beautiful hiking etc. Alternatively we have also spent a lot of time relaxing at the B&B, enjoying the pool and surrounding grounds. The... more

Sheila & Don We stayed one week in the Carriage House Cottage self catering offered by the most welcoming couple Barb and Marcel, The cottage was excellent first class accomodation. The kitchen was well equipped, a spacious living room area, lovely bedroom and well styled bathroom. Best of all was all the lovely alternatives for seating outside. The accommodation was... more

My wife and I together with my cousin and her husband stayed with Barb and Marcel for 2 nights in June 2008, occupying the Lavender and Gardenia rooms at their delightful property in the country. From the moment we walked into their home we were welcomed like old friends although we had only communicated by email until then. A welcome... more

We stayed in the cottage and had the second bedroom as well which made it ideal for the four of us. Wonderful surroundings just to sit and watch we saw the deer playing as well as the other animals around. Barb made us a very good breakfast and both she and Marcel gave us some interesting local facts and where... more

The Carriage House Cottage of this delightful B & B was everything and more than we could have hoped for. Relaxing on the covered deck we watched deer grazing, small rabbits frolicking and listened to sheep baa-ing and pheasants calling. Barb and Marcel LaPlante are the most gracious hosts and run a warm and friendly B & B. Marcel's lemon... more

A beautiful home in tranquil surroundings. Unfortunately we were only here for one night, but will definitely come back when we hopefully re-visit Vancouver Island again. The room was very nice with a big comfortable bed and great views. We were only a short drive from Parksville, and so were able to pop into town for a meal and browse... more

Barb and Marcel LaPlante have built a beautiful home in the small town of Coombs, a great centre for visiting the middle of Vancouver Island. We had the Lavender Room for 4 days which is not ensuite but you have exclusive use of the bathroom next door. There are nice touches, like fluffy bathrobes and interesting breakfasts. Marcel is a... more

We spent four days of Easter vacation learning how to golf and relaxing at the Thyme Away Cottage. It was an ideal base for exploring, golfing and for simply relaxing on Vancouver Island. We stayed in the carriage house cottage which was well equipped with all the essentials (just missing an iron - which I am sure we could have... more
