We booked a private room, just for me and my son. I must say that I'm may be too clean but the kitchen was actually very dirty and ok there is charm and character but this was just a mess, I'm sorry. I did a lot of hostels but I saw never (wet, dirty,...) animals in the kitchen or such... More

This hostel was by far the most characteristic I have stayed in, sleeping in old fashion cabooses with their own kitchen and toilet. The owner Blair is so helpful and friendly and will give you plenty of ideas and advice about your travel plans. The hostel also offers free rental of a canoe to paddle on the neighbouring Shuswap lake... More

We stayed here after travelling all day, this is a really quirky little place. It is just off the highway on the lake, and the staff are very friendly. The owner gave us some great recommendations for things to do in the area. I loved the dog Samson and the cats, very friendly. The price is really cheap, this is... More

This is a really quirky and lovely place but dont expect amazing standards and it's more like someones home than a HI hostel. It was a bit grubby and really untidy (cluttered is not the word!) especially in the kitchen, but I loved it for this. It had so much character as did the owner so I wouldnt change a... More

I booked this place to me and other three friends in early July 2013. Right after check in, I realized that it was not a hostel, but a hell-tel! Super dirty, smelly, the owner/menager seems to never clean it. As soon as I steped in its registration office, I wanted to vomit! We decided to go find a motel in... More

The Shuswap Hostel is located on the Transcanada highway, so you would perhaps expect it to be busy and noisy, but in fact the opposite is true. Once you get off the highway, the location is beautiful, serene and peaceful. Staying in an old train was certainly unique. There is not a lot of space so if you are worried... More

My boyfriend and I went to this hostel because we wanted to get away from the busy city. It was fun to explore the surroundings and be led by the hostel dog, Samson, to the beaver's house not too far away. We also took the free canoe out to Shuswap Lake which was amazing. We got to see salmon jumping... More

We stayed in the train car hostel. It was September so we had the whole caboose to ourselves. The place is incredibly charming. It's nothing fancy, but it will appeal to those who love unique places and aren't too fussy. The train was so cool to stay in. In the morning we canoed on the Shuswap and saw a couple... More

Booked private room, no lock on door, smelt of either damp or damp dog. The dog and cat were allowed to wander around the guest kitchen, the kitchen appeared not to have a clean/clear surface. Location wad nice beside the lake
