Let me start by saying that I can appreciate the challenges of operating a large hotel in a somewhat remote area of the West Kootenays, but I feel that the cost here does not reflect the service and atmosphere I have come to expect when I fork out over $200 for a hotel room. Although larger hotels are not common... More

This is our second visit here after finding this place two years ago. This time we got to stay on the third floor in room 306 facing the lake. It looks like they have remodeled the room and building which is great, it's nice to see a business putting their money into the hotel instead of letting it fall a... More

I have been going to the hot springs at ainsworth for yeas. When the hotel and resort opening several yrs ago I did have a meal in their restaurant and never went again until a few days ago. The experience at their restaurant was terrible once again. They advertised a special and then after waiting in line for a table... More

I am sorry to hear this happened to you. The restaurant offers specials for breakfast, lunch & dinner and they do their best to anticipate the numbers (which is difficult in the busy season). Meal satisfaction is important to us. I hope you were able to enjoy the hot springs during your visit and include a stop at the resort... More

The hot springs cave was unique; we really liked it, but the water is VERY hot in there. The outdoor pool was a comfortable 99 degrees. There is also a very cold plunge pool for cooling off. Room was clean and adequate with nice view of Kootenay Lake. Restaurant was fair.

I am a long-time patron of Ainsworth Hotsprings, my family has been visiting yearly since I was a child (over 20 years) and I've seen many changes and improvements over the years. We live about a 6 hour drive away so we usually stay at the resort overnight. Pros: The recent renovations to the rooms are very nice, the lobby... More

Thanks very much for your posting. We certainly want to offer something for everyone. and these suggestions are food for thought, no pun intended. Our children's menu came about after long time guests requested healthy alternatives for their little ones. At this point, pool/cave closing hours accommodate the cleaning process. Draining, scrubbing and refilling can take 8-9 hours to complete.... More

I drove to Ainsworth last week during a short trip to Nelson. First the positives: the location is breathtakingly beautiful and there is a fabulous view of Kootenay river from the pool deck. The pool was nice and warm (warm enough for people to enjoy it in the rain), and the hot spring water in the cave was a really... More

I get your point. We do encourage guests to keep hydrated while enjoying the hot springs and allow plastic water bottles out on the pool deck. However monitoring occupancy and personal items would be difficult with people moving out of the pool area. The cleaning of change/shower rooms is per health regulations. We try to be as quick and discrete... More

#NOT A NATURAL HOT SPRING# Heard amazing things about the hot springs so we drove up from Nelson, couldn't find information online about day passes so bit the bullet for the drive. Here's the run-down on day passes: YES you can enter the hot spring pool without staying at the resort. It's $11 for single entry, $18 for the day... More

Thanks for your thoughts. Hot mineral water flows naturally from the ground, is captured and processed for public use as per health and safety regulations. An interesting note is temperatures have not varied from the first records taken over a hundred years ago. For future reference, current pool rates can be viewed on the Water page of our website. We... More

I have been to ainsworth hot springs every summer for the last 5 years. I knew the entire resort was for sale and I'm not sure if a sale has taken place yet. I knew the caves had been closed most of June because the water in the caves carried an electrical charge to the swimmers in May and in... More

The Ainsworth Hot Springs pool is a soaking pool, not a swimming pool. We do not have lifeguards and never did. For safety reasons, parents are asked to keep their children within arms reach at all times. History and ownership of the resort is recorded on our website. Water quality is monitored and recorded regularly throughout the day to maintain... More

Had a problem with my room so I was re-located to another more expensive one for no extra charge, (nice bonus) the view was terrific. My only regret was that I didn't manage my time better due to being a weary traveller, I missed the last swim of the night cause I went to diner too late. Oh, yes, lot's... More
