I visited the hotel in August this year with my Mother and my two sons (11 and 7). Admittedly we booked quite late and there isn't a lot of choice in the area. However, looking at the website and the photos we thought we had done well. We were hugely disappointed. The hotel could be lovely but, as mentioned in... more

I booked this break before reading the reviews and nearly cancelled! I'm glad I didn't because this was a lovely, friendly, characterful hotel. We stayed in one of the barn rooms, which although a little limited for space was delightful. Friendly staff, good food, pleasant surroundings, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. more

Yes it does have some small faults but you need to consider it is a rustic type country hotel. The food was good and of good quality not pub standard. Service could be classed as slow or leisurely. An evening meal takes up to 2hrs but the food is cooked fresh. Breakfast was as large as you wished and always hot... more

Which I had taken note of the reviews on this site before booking. We stayed in The Hardy room which looked a very light airy room on the web site. Turned out to be rather small, dark and very smelly. The hotel building it's self I am sure 20 years ago was well cared for but now it has been... more

My wife and I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in August 09. It was carnival week in Cromer but that wasn't why we were there. Charming hotel, yes a little quirky, and the staff not falling around your feet asking after your health or trying to be meaninglessly pleasant all the time as in some other establishments. That's... more

I stayed here last year with my Mum for our birthdays, and are still traumatised about our visit. I emailed the manager on our return to express our disappontment & complaints which were ignored during our stay. His return emails then descended into a slanging match, which was most upsetting. Having seen the website photos, it looked very nice and... more

My partner booked it as a birthday supprise, she doesn't use trip adviser. If i had read about it before hand we would not have gone that is why this is such a good site. The place is at a push 1960's luxury but definetley not worth the full price for the rooms. On arrival we were met by a... more

Having just returned from a two sleepless nights in a "superior" room at this hotel I can say that my back is now recovering from the apalling cheap lumpy mattress and thin lumpy pillows which, combined with the thin walls which meant that we could hear everything going on in the adjacent room and room above, left me with about... more

Dreadful. Since when has a tired and dishevelled room with a noisy old jacuzzi in a scruffy bathroom been known as a Superior Spa Suite? View across 'lush countryside' was actually next door's lounge. Average restaurant menu with supposedly 'local' flavour such as swordfish and red snapper. From the North Sea?? Choice of watery winter veg in Springtime. Steaks not... more
