The room we stayed in was very spacious, quiet, clean and comfortable, with views over the parkland and herds of deer. The hotel staff we very polite, friendly and attentive, (first class). The evening meal was excellent the steak was cooked to perfection, the roast potatoes were something else so much so one of mine went missing! yes stolen of... More

Excellent hotel, felt totally relaxed, it was lovely to sit in the residents lounge with drinks before dinner. The bedrooms are very comfortable. Food was very good, normally I am disappointed by steak in restaurants, but it was very, very good. Only downside was the white wines are a bit poor.

A truly delightful stay... attentive but nicely laid back staff ensured a relaxing and very high end stay... the interiors are stunning.... traditional English with a colonial exotic twist... designed with real flair and luxurious attention to detail... we were in the Ward room which provided a beautiful view of the deer park. The bed, sheets and bath were absolutely... More

Have just spent 2 nights at The Gunton (Sunday/Monday). This was my second visit and both times have had a lovely relaxing time. The staff are really easy going and leave you to do your own thing, but always around if you do need anything. Had lovely breakfast's and dinner's, the rooms are lovely (the bath in the Langtry room... More

Arrived quite late in the evening and the staff were very friendly and helpful, offering to make us a sandwich etcetera. I was a little frustrated that they insisted on giving us a guided tour. I suppose it would have been a nice touch had it not been for the time. I had just driven for three hours to get... More

I stayed there with my wife and dog (Toast) in mid March. Unfortunately our stay was cut short due to illness (back problems arising from golf played the weekend before became acute while we were there the first night - it turned out to be a herniated disc) and sadly we therefore were only able to stay one night. In... More

Set in a deer park and stuffed with modern art (Hirst, Emin, Rego) this is a perfect weekend retreat and you feel like you're special guests of very old and well loved friends. Downstairs has a hunting lodge style - lots of wood, exposed brick, shabby leather armchairs, antlers, wood burning fires). Upstairs is more Jane Austen - chintz, large... More

My husband organised the evening for us for our 41st anniversary. Very helpful staff a charming guy showed me round explaining about the kitchenette as there are no kettles in the rooms. This did surprise us as staying here is not cheap and having to wander down in the morning for a cuppa is rather tiresome not good customer service.... More

Family dinner, staff were friendly and service was good. The views are spectacular, we were lucky to catch a beautiful sunset. Some of the art was 'different'. A little more attention to cutlery and serving spoons. However a very pleasant experience.

Looking forward to a great meal we were greatly disappointed. The staff were excellent. The meal just ok but went downhill after ther starter. The wine on offer was greatly overpriced, have paid a lot less for same at other eateries. The ambience was terrible, and the decor! Please do not tell me it is shabby chic and 'arty', we... More
