love, love love this place! Tucked away so that the hotel is the destination rather than immediate area , but really no need to leave . Great food to choose from - so hard to make a decision ! Rooms super comfy, mattresses divine . Whole place an eclectic mix of modern art and old pieces of furniture , busy... More

Great find. Amazing location and eclectic decor. Food will not disappoint. Good value for money for a different eating experience where some food is cooked on the Fire in the Elk room. Can get very hot if sat near the fire place though. Only downside is trying to book a table they seem only to ever offer 6-6.30? Tried ringing... More

What a fantastic place. Location wonderful - plenty of acres for a beautiful early morning run in the misty sunshine. Food - fantastic. A shame they weren't cooking on the open fire the night we ate in but still spectacular. Artwork is wonderfully refreshing change from usual corporate stuff. Lively bar which is refreshing, helped by fact the rugby was... More

I often eat here. The food is fantastic, even if the menu favours carnivores. Own smoke house produces some of the best smoked salmon I have ever eaten. Staff are delghtful but dippy. They often have no idea that we have booked a table. Its a friendly place with lots of locals, families and elderly people.

We have been here previously a couple of years ago and loved, the location, quirkiness etc. I think it has got even more popular now. On a Tuesday lunchtime in January, it was busy. We were glad we booked. Arrived to be met by a herd of deer in e grounds and then proceeded to order their relatives for dinner! Both... More

My friend booked our weekend so I really wasn't sure what we were into, but we were pleasantly surprised when we got there. We arrived in the dark so we didn't see the grounds at first, the building looked great as it was illuminated to show off the distinctive design. When we got inside we were given a tour of... More

This was an interesting experience. The car park is a long way from the hotel and was very muddy. In the entrance hall, which is dark and shabby, there were two men sprawled on the armchairs in wellingtons. Once we found the Reception, a very charming lady welcomed us. I think she must be the Manageress. All the staff were... More

I've stayed here before, and each time it's still as good as the last. Can't fault the location, except it's a long way from home, but it's a great place to arrive after negotiating the drive...a toasty fire and friendly bar will quickly welcome you into the fold and the reality beyond the gates will melt away. There isn't a... More

We stayed just for the one night. Sadly we got the last room so a rather small 4ft 6" double bed. The room was OK and he views were great. We stayed on a Sunday and although they had the log fire in the dining room they only cook on the fire Mondays - Saturdays. Nevertheless, the food was superb... More

We won't again. Very poor xmas decor. No log fire burning and plastic tree. Can you believe that. Food so poor. Had pigs cheek and chorizo. Dining room dark so honestly couldn't tell between the two meats what was what. Daughter had the same and agreed. Crab soup watery. Nice service as always but this place now not worth travelling...
