We found the Bayroo a perfect chill out base for a two week holiday.
The food was nice with lots of variety and the staff were always on hand to help/assist in anyway they could.
Special mention to the Roomboys who constructed a new flower arrangement on the beg every night and everyone was different! A mean feat for a 14 night stay.
Sri Lanka was amazing, a trip to the temple of the tooth and to Kandy (staying at theCitadel) is recommended, the elephant orphanage is a worthwhile trip also.
Take repellent at mozzies are prevalent and be prepared to be rather warm in the evening.
There was a nice area outstde of the room with chairs etc and the view to the beach and see was perfect.
A little hassle from people hanging over the fence along the beach but nothing too intrusive if you let them get on with it and ignore them.
Overall a lovelty place to stay, certainly above its three stars awarded.

Visited the Bayroo as part of a package deal. It is located on a narrow but long beach. Arrived into the airy reception and was seen promptly and shown to the room. The room was a little larger than expected and had a patio with chairs and a small table, a really nice touch. The room was serviced twice a day, the latter service turned down the sheets and placed a different flower on the bed each night, quite a feat for 14 days. The thing i will treasure is the white temple flower that matched the clean sheets perfectly. The service in the hotel was prompt, the bar staff were chatty but not intrusive and more than happy to talk about their lives. There are two restaurants in the hotel and the food was above average. Drinks were a reasonable price but of course cheaper from one of the independant beach bars. My only gripe is that on the beach there was a fair degree of hassle from the local men who obviously were offering 'trips' and 'a visit to see their home', none of this was... more
