All staff incredibly helpful and friendly - a perfect retreat for couples but I really wish it had a beach with swimmable sea in august. It is close to some of the key sites such as Kandy and easy to get to airport and good night life close by ! Good value for money I believe and I think in... More

Just returned from a two week stay. The Hotel is undergoing a lot of maintenance, but nothing that interferes with your stay. The Hotel is situated on a sand bar separated from the mainland by a River. Access to the Hotel is by punted Barge which is available 24/7 and goes back and forth. The Hotel staff were extremely friendly... More

We stayed for three nights prior to leaving Sri Lanka and were underwhelmed by Ranweli. While the room was nice and location lovely, a number of frequently occurring issues and the overall 'vibe' of the place let it down. The food was average at best, with the buffet using cheaper ingredients and desserts that I would call 'chocolate coloured tasteless... More

Returned here for two weeks r&r. Again, the bungalow was spacious and very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was large and user friendly. The new management team were very helpful, attentive and went out of their way to please. the restaurant manager greeted us personally at every meal. The fairly high standard of food is maintained in the buffet style restaurant... More

returned here after about 5 years prior to leaving SL. Well received by team. Yes, the hotel is a bit worn around the edges but they are upgrading. We were lucky to stay in a beachside deluxe room which was a stunning example of their refurb work. The overall design of the place remains appealing and it welcomes you to... More

This was the first time we had visited Sri Lanka. We really enjoyed our time at Ranweli. We stayed in one of the standard beach facing bungalows. The accommodation was very good, lovely large beds, air conditioning and great bathrooms. We were all inclusive which I would recommend as there are no loop holes in this and everything really is... I have just returned from two wonderful weeks at this excellent resort/hotel. A short sail across the river on the little ferry takes you into an oasis of calm, friendliness and total relaxation. I stayed in a deluxe sea facing room. What I didn't expect when I booked it was to be literally right in front of the Indian Ocean.... More

Stayed at Ranweli for 14 nights in Jan 2014. Have to say that I am glad we upgraded to the luxury rooms as I couldn't imagine staying two weeks in the standard ones. Found those to be a bit dated compared to the one we had. Thought the place itself and MOST of the staff were very good. Some of... More

We stayed at Ranweli for 8 nights for part of our honeymoon mid April 2014. We were all inclusive and stayed in a Deluxe sea-facing villa. I thought it might be useful to list the good and bad points of our stay. Excellent: *The setting - the resort is well maintained, calm, well laid out and not over crowded. We... More

We spent two weeks at this hotel at the beginning of April, staying on all inclusive basis. We loved the short boat ride across to the hotel as it made you feel like you were going to a remote island. We had a deluxe beach side bungalow which was large, very clean and ideally located close to all the facilities... More
