We had booked for 1 night but ended up staying for 4. We were graciously accommodated at last minute in the beautiful Mount Lodge. Padmini and Gamani were wonderful hosts - the breakfasts were spectacular. We would certainly recommend Mount Lodge!

I wanted so much to like this place, especially after finding out that it was Geoffrey Bawa designed and communicating with the manager, Ben, beforehand. Ben, sorry about this review, but as you know, I rely heavily on Tripadvisor and appreciate reading reviews that provide a comprehensive and accurate perspective. Yes, Mount Lodge has the potential to be a lovely,... More

I loved this place. Its not a hotel as such, but more of a family environment. I loved the staffs there, both Gamini and Padmini are excellent help. People who loves history and antiques would love this place. The home is a history itself, the first owner came to Sri Lanka in 1890s, a lot of antiques are well preserved.... More

I arrived very late from the airport but my hosts welcomed me and kindly prepared a delicious supper. Then to bed - clean, airy, comfortable and quiet (and next to a very good shower). I woke to the sound of birds and a school brass band! Breakfast was a feast and set me up for the long journey ahead.

We actually wound up at the Mount Lodge quite by accident, we had another booking on AirBnB but the location was way off so I found the Lodge at the very last minute (like 11pm from the Airport on my phone) After a drive through the very dark and disheveled urban jungle that is Colombo, we arrived at the address...... Great little hotel oozing with style. wonderful warm hosts and excellent cooking. they cooked us a fantastic New Year's even dinner - the best local food in Sri Lanka - and their breakfast hoppers are to die for (we're still talking about them months later). Disappointed with Mount Lavinia itself but then it is on the edge of Colombo so... More

We stayed 2 separate nights fitting around other commitments and were the only ones there, which was fine and only enhanced the peace and quiet, with all the bustle of greater Colombo firmly shut out. The small footprint of the building packs in a lot, with very clever use of space (various small sheltered courtyard areas open up) and consistent... More

My husband and I stayed here one night before flying back home on 27th April. We were welcomed by a very warm loving couple. It felt as if we were visiting friends and not booking in to a bed and breakfast. The rooms were very comfortable, cool, clean and big. Bathroom was equally excellent. Big Mango trees full of new... We spend two excellent nights at the Mount Lodge hotel in Mount Lavinia and were very happy to have stayed there. The hotel is excellent, the breakfast is fantastic (European or Sri Lanka) and the welcome by the hosts was superb. Mount Lodge is in the center of Mount Lavina, 5 minutes walk to the beach and 5 minutes walk... More

We immensely enjoyed our stay at Mount Lodge (21 Feb to 16 March). The apartment was absolutely beautiful and comfortable and the location is quite convenient. Gamini and Padmini were amazing hosts and made our stay so comfortable and memorable. We visited and had meals at a number of places in Sri Lanka (including hotels and friends and relatives). Gamini’s... More
