This hotel must have been lovely in its day but unfortunately it has been left and now just looks tired. The first room we were given had been refurbished but this part of the hotel seems to have a real problem with damp as the corridors smelt fusty and the rooms had condensation running down both the walls & windows,... Management have no will or desire to help you, if you ask for what you paid for, made the mistanke of Pre-paying the hotel stay. The staff are rude, ignorant and almost openly demanding tips no matter where you are and what your are doing in the hotel. The hotel policy is overbooking is normal, bad room standard and you... We only had a 3 night stay at Mount Lavinia and had both good and bad experiences. On the first night my son injured and fractured his toe due to a hole in the bathroom where maintenance had not been carried out. The first manager to arrive was plain arrogant and tried to fob us off with various poor excuses.... More

I'm conflicted...... I both loved this hotel and thought it was poor for different reasons. I stayed here for four nights on a business trip so my remarks are coloured by the fact I didn't part with any of my cash for the stay (otherwise my opinions may have been different). The staff are just wonderful, you always have a... More

We spent the first few days of our Sri Lankan holiday in Colombo, and stayed here on the recommendation of someone who stayed here some years back. Our airport pick up worked fine, though the driver was pushing all the way to get us to book him for extra trips (though this is common in this part of Asia. We... More

Stayed at this hotel at the beginning and of my recent visit to Sri Lanka. On both occasions I had a room with a balcony facing the ocean. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean, the staff courteous and helpful. The food was excellent. All in all a very pleasant stay and would use the hotel again when I am... More

Stayed at this hotel some years ago. Food still good and tasty! Room also nice and staff friendly and servicemminded. Will come back next time too when in Sri Lanka. Many wedding couples came and receptions were held several times per day. You becomel so happy when you see all the happy couples and their families and it gives more... More

Having arranged our wedding in Mt Lavnia we were delighted at the hard work and efforts of the staff to make this a memorable experience, the hotel was the perfect setting and all the staff made us feel special before and after our big day. We made some good friends and will cherish these memories. The old world charm of... More

We stayed at Mount Lavina for just one night at the start of a tour and wish it had been more. Staying at this grand colonial hotel was an experience not to be missed, the service was excellent, the food fantastic and the accommodation was everything you would want from a property with the history this building has.
