We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our honeymoon, after flying into Colombo. It's a fantastic looking hotel, in the old colonial style and with the doormen dressed to fit with their surrounds it's a great experience from the moment you pull up. We were given an ocean facing room - the view down the coast was... More

I have visited Mount Lavinia during May 2013 and had the worst experience in my life. This hotel was one of the best hotels in olden days but today it's one of the worst hotels in town. Hotel has given me a very old room with limited facilities ( I did not made any complaints). I have used the saloon... More

I've being to Mount Lavinia hotel for several time but this was the first time I've spent night there with my wife. Negatives -------------- 1. We've arrived at the hotel around 10 PM and bunch of trainee were at the reception who took much longer time for the check in, 2. We decided to order few items from In Room... More

I just stayed there for 2 days and in fact returning back in a few a days. Positives Great Staff and service. They always want to please you and go above and beyond. The food and the spread on each is great!. The pool was great and the right size for a family with little kids. The Food and the... More

No doubt, this is the excellent place to take important guests, local or foreign visitors. Children enjoyed swimming pool, women loved relaxation spa, and men spent good time with great buffet. Everything is expensive, but worthwhile!!

We only spent 1 night at the Mt Lavinia Hotel (our 1st night of the trip), but it was fantastic. Lovely poolside setting for meals, overlooking the beach and a great view looking back towards Colombo. Definitely recommend if you have time and want to stay somewhere different to central Colombo, and a place with a lot of colonial character.... More

Like a tired old dame in the last throes of life, this hotel is well past its prime. A walk around reveals some sense of its charm, but sadly, the place is a faded semblance of what must have been a glorious resort. The declining physical infrastructure (wreaking of stale smoke and curry in some places) is partially counteracted by... More

Stayed only 1 night as part of our highlights tour 8th Sept' '14 but would love to have stayed longer. Retro colonial style and comfort all round and our best hotel yet. Lovely room with firm but comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Again friendly welcome cold towel and drink with the most helpful staff you could wish for. The restaurant... More

We were at the Mount and really enjoyed the sumptuous buffet. The food was hot and spicy, typical Sri Lankan and International mix. Get a beautiful view of the Indian ocean as well Colombo Skyline all the way from the Galle Face. The hotel is clean and the staff is courteous.

The Mount Lavinia is a great place to start or end a trip in Sri Lanka...although we could have easily spent a month there! The hotel has a real feel of colonial charm, from the colonial-style costumes of the reception staff to the building itself and the service ethos of the staff. Although it's true that some of the building... More
