Strategically located near Mt.Lavinia beach gives you an absolute comfort in the scenic Island. An ideal place for a holiday or business travellers. Restaurant by the beach an ideal spot for a family lunch or dinner. The service was very good as expected. As a Grade A Hotel with comfortable 40 A/C rooms, swimming pool,,and a sea just 12 km.... Nice hotel with pool by the beach in Colombo. Ok, breakfast. Friendly staff. But the last day we were checking out at 00.00 in th night, when paying for the room and the transport, they fooled us to pay the airport transport twice. We did not knowtise until almost at the airport and the driver did not speak good english... More

Nothing really wrong but overpriced for what it was. Room ok size wise, bed comfortable although linen had seen better days. No mosquito net and very old noisy a/c. Not overly clean, mirrors hadn't been cleaned fr a while, lots of cob webs Didn't mind having to cross railway track to get to breakfast - which was ok - added... More

Haus Chandra is an old-fashioned, family-run hotel. It isn't for the mirrors and chrome crowd. It is somewhat run down (it has been awhile since any real money went into it), but it is clean and well-managed. The staff is terrific. It is very quiet, at a distance off the Galle Road (except on Saturday nights, when beach music can... More

It gets listed as a boutique hotel ..it isn't one ..but we got a suite for 9000rs per night ( £45 ) and it was adequately clean and wifi fast , spacious and had an almost charming shabby ( not knowingly so !! ) charm . Its 75 metres ( across railway tracks ) to the breakfast bar on the... More

I have stayed at the hotel for a week. I like the rooom and the view and the location and the service.. the only thing I still cannot understand why they were busy with chemical and very stinking desinfection while the guests were in their rooms.... At least, it was not good for health...

We stayed here at the end of June for convenience as I was travelling very early the next morning from Katunayake to Europe and my wife was catching an early Helitours flight from Ratmalana. We were checked in promptly albeit indifferently into a standard room which we had booked via Agoda. The room was very compact. However, the cleanliness of... More

We paid 8,000 rupees (negotiated down from a preposterous 10,000) for a night in a double room at Haus Chandra, and expected a stay to justify that price. Colombo is relatively expensive as Sri Lanka goes, so 8,000 is not unheard of, and cosmetically from the outside Haus Chandra is a good-looking place. When our flight was delayed by a... More

I loved staying at this hotel. However, the plumbing needs some work. There was always water on the floor of the bathroom. Otherwise, the staff is very, very nice. I highly recommend rooms 27 or 29 as the a/c works very well and there is a nice sitting area outside the rooms, although it is not air-conditioned and may be... More

I can see why other reviews vary so much. It depends upon perspective. It's a grand old building, dramatic architecturally, classic old furnishings, with friendly staff and near beach. Building maintenance seems very lax, however. Faucets and toilets leak and need work. Good meals are available in their beachfront open cafe or on its sandy beach, but rooftop restaurant not...
