We were in town for a concert at the civic center and had a really nice stay at this hotel. We loved the room itself, the artwork around the building and in the rooms, and the upscale loft feel of the hotel in general. The room was spacious and included a sitting area with a TV, a few nice big... More

Spent a night to celebrate anniversary. Had dinner at the HoDo. It wasn't an inexpensive experience, but we felt we got our moneys worth. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a unique experience in Downtown Fargo.

This hotel is pricy for Fargo but would cost double in any other city. It is small - 17 rooms, each individual -- and the attention to detail is keen and much appreciated. Even the Do Not Disturb - or "Sssh" -- signs are tasteful. My room, 12, was enormous, with high, exposed beam ceilings, track lighting, an incredibly comfortable... More

Smack in the center of an interesting and lively part of town, only 11 minutes from Fargo's Hector airport, this place is a gem. A building preserved from its century-plus roots, this comfortable yet hip establishment surprised me. I arrived quite late after a seriously delayed flight but despite the post-midnight hour I was welcomed warmly -good thing since it... More

We've stayed at the hotel a number of times, but there are some things about the hotel that don't meet our satisfaction. We had to ask for additional pillows -- only three provided on a king bed -- which they happily provided. Only option for bedding is a large comforter, not even a sheet that can be used by itself.... Could not fault this hotel. Had high expectations are they were met! Felt like we were staying in Soho NYC rather than little old Fargo. Staff were friendly on arrival and there was plenty of wine, cheese and snacks to go around for the free wine hour. Rooms were homely as promised and a welcome change from the sanitized chain... The Hotel Donaldson is, hands down, the best hotel I can remember, and I've stayed in a lot of them over the years. Even if you have no business in Fargo, the hotel is worth the trip on its own merits. Each room is not only beautiful, each with unique original art, but every detail of the furnishings has been... This is one of our favourite hotels. We have been going to this hotel now for years and there is nothing that compares to this hotel. It's so unique. Each room we have stayed in (we have tried lots of different rooms) are so different. The beds are to die for, the rooms are extremely clean! The food is very... More

I've been wanting to stay at the HoDo for a long time but they are always totally booked. There is a reason! My stay was fantastic!! I highly recommend staying here. Take full advantage of all the amenities; 5-6 wine and cheese, roof top hot tub and the bar are must do's. Enjoy!

The Hotel Donaldson is without question one of the best boutique hotels I've stayed in. And given that I've travelled extensively for work and pleasure thru more than 40 countries over the last 25 years, I think it's fair to say I've seen a few. What's most remarkable perhaps, is that it's in Fargo, North Dakota. My very large king... More
