Oh my gosh! Where do I begin? First of all, I booked a room for a weekend getaway with my girlfriend and found this hotel conveniently located near Old Salem. According to the computer, this hotel offered a lounge, a pool, and had excellent pictures of the property. Unfortunately, I didn't heed the saying "pictures are deceiving" because when we... more

We booked a block of rooms for a conference and had 22 people in seven rooms. Our particular room was around 85 degrees at night and we were unable to adjust the temperature. When we spoke with a person on staff we were told that they would not be able to switch from heat to air until spring. Out of... more

We booked the hotel while we were in town for a football game at Wake Forest. The hotel is economical, not comfortable. Location is right off the interstate and there is a good breakfast place across the street. Not too far from downtown, but you do have to drive. Just a standard room. There was a coffee maker in the... more

I was going to stay at this hotel during a convention in August of 2007. They messed up the reservation and had me checking in on Friday (for two days,) instead of Saturday (for one) as I had requested. When I arrived they told me that they had charged my card for a no-show on Friday but would give me... more

We use the BW chain a lot when visiting the USA but my belief is that, whilst they set the standards for budget type accommodation a few years ago they are fast losing their position. We walked in to this hotel, wishing to stay the night at Winston Salem, and I have to say that the lobby and dining room... more

It was alright. The room was nice; it was decorated, the furnishings matched, and seemed clean. But the bathroom was gross: it had a short ceiling and there was some mildew stuff in the bathtub. There was a nice spread of continental breakfast food. Unfortunately, the "high-speed internet" was a slow crawl, with download speeds of 300 kbps (high speed... more

My sister and I stay at the Salem Inn almost every Easter. It has gone downhill since Best Western took over. When we came back from dinner the first evening our bathroom floor was flooded--not just damp-- flooded. We called the desk and the clerk said that she was busy but we could come and get some towels and mop... more

Accomadations were very good . Had a problem with heat in first room it was very quickly checked. We were given a new room with no problems and were asked repeatedly if there was anything else they could do for us. They had a very nice continental breakfast each morning and tho the restaurant was only open for dinner we... more

I chose this hotel from the internet primarily for location: it's next to Old Salem, and because it was described as Winston-Salem's "best kept secret." It is, in fact, within walking distance of Old Salem. But this was about its only plus. I called ahead and made my reservation, and I was given the confirmed price of $67.20 per night... more

My husband and I stayed at the Salem Inn and were disappointed. We found the hotel on the internet and decided to stay there for several reasons: location, a decent rate, and the resturaunt and lounge. However, upon checking in, we learned that due to new owners, the resturaunt and lounge was not open yet due to not having permits.... more
