My daugher and I went to visit Wake Forest University on the NC college tour circuit. We stayed overnight at the Graylyn, which is only minutes from the college. It was such a lovely surprise. It seemed like we were in the countryside, which could have been anywhere, instead of a town which really, sorry to say, is basically lackluster.... More

Amazing old country estate and stables that have been transformed into a hotel. Anyone searching for a unique experience needs to stay here. We stayed in "The Mews" which is the converted stables on the property. Very unique. Our room was in the new area, so accommodations are more modern. Well appointed. Comfy beds. Breakfast is included and was very... More

We had a nice weekend getaway to Graylyn. We were coming up for the NC Wine Festival, which was not so impressive, so we were happy to have the hotel to go back to. The setting is amazing and it is really fun to wander around and read about the history. They had a wedding going on at the time,... More

Our whole experience was fabulous! The staff is friendly, polite and efficient. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The breakfast included made to order omelettes. Also the free ice cream was a special treat for the whole family. Loved this place!!

Stayed at Graylyn for 6 nights during the US Masters Track championships at Wake Forest, along with several other couples. We initially walked 25 minutes to the campus track through the nearby museum grounds before discovering that Graylyn drivers would take you over (in five minutes) for $5 per person. Definitely a bargain. Spent the first night in the Bungalows,... More

An island of gracious tranquility in a city that has little. The perfect spot to get away from it all and remember what life can be. It's a grand European escape without the airline nonsense. No hassle, no long flights. Just elegance and peaceful surroundings.

It is boggling to realize that Graylyn initially was a family residence, first occupied in 1932. Even during the Great Depression some people flourished. The property is magnificent, with beautifully maintained grounds and an impressive main house. Each room, we were told, is unique. Ours was very large and comfortable, in part because it was centrally air conditioned. The only... More

We loved this place and will return again! We were visiting Wake Forest on a college tour with our son. What a lovely surprise Graylyn is! We stayed for 4 nights as we toured all the colleges in the NC area. We used this as home base each day and were so delighted to return to the lovely hotel every... More

We travelled to Winston-Salem to visit our daughter at Wake Forest last weekend and stayed at Graylyn for the first time. We stayed at several other area hotels but this is clearly the best. The property is outstanding, the staff is incredible, and food was excellent. Staying at Graylyn was a true vacation compared to the other hotels in the... More
