We visited Wilmington to check out the area and see if we might want to retire here. We chose the Verandas based on so many positive reviews. So here I'll add one more. Chuck is a wonderful host, willing to give you plenty of information on the Historic District of Wilmington, preparing excellent breakfasts and having cookies & wine available... More

My husband planned a getaway for us on Valentines. So we decided to stay in a B&B instead of a hotel this time and picked The Verandas. Bruce, the owner was very kind. The house was lovely and convenient to downtown. The breakfast was fantastic. The only complaint was someone turned the hall thermostat off, which turned the heat off... More

We just spent one night, the but really refueled my battery before jumping into a new school year. Went here as a quick get away with my honey. We were pampered our entire stay; from the fabulous 5 star breakfast to the excellent dinner suggestion. You will definitely appreciate the attention paid to you and this property. The house is... This is a rather large, charming B&B in the historic district of Wilmington. Bruce, the owner, was born to be in the hospitality industry! He's gracious, entertaining, and well versed in what's going on in the city. He upgraded us to "the nicest room in the house" upon arrival because we were first-time visitors. His breakfast was outstanding.

We spent 3 nights at the Verandas in early January and had an extremely comfortable, enjoyable stay. The hospitality and ambiance are exceptional. The location is fantastic. Chuck is a wonderful host.

Chuck Pennington is the consummate B&B host. We were greeted with warm hospitality from the time we entered the front door of The Verandas . Chuck makes sure that all of your needs are met, even providing a complimentary "wine time" every day at five. This Southern mansion is beautifully furnished with antiques that Chuck has acquired over many years... More

It was my husband's idea to stay in a B&B and I'm so glad! The Verandas was just perfect. Gorgeous, quiet, perfect location, excellent host. Chuck will whip up a fabulous and unique breakfast too. Our room was comfortable and cozy. The Inn is within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants. Just love it!

We've stayed at many B&B's in this country and in Europe. Some are merely adequate and others go out of their way to serve their guests. The Verandas is one of these. We recently stayed in Room #3. It is beautifully furnished, quiet and comfortable, but more importantly it is very clean and contains everything you need for an overnight... More

It only takes a few little details to turn 5 stars into 4. Chuck took an old building and had it renovated beautifully. The rooms are big and comfy. The common areas looked really nice, although we didn't have a chance to enjoy them. The breakfasts are outstanding! Chuck takes great pride in presenting them, as well he should. There... More

Our two day stay at the Verandas in the historic section of Wilmington was unique and very pleasing. It's location made exploring the shops and restaurants convenient. Chuck Pennington, owner, and superb breakfast chef runs this well appointed and restored mansion built in 1855. Each room is unique and pictured on their web site. The antiques are plentiful, the decor... More
