This hotel was so outdated, and the wallpaper was tearing off the walls, the handle broke on the toilet the first time I flused it, the knob to turn on the shower half of it was missing.... the kitchen had 1950 stools and counters, did not cook so not sure if the stove worked or not. We requested our money... More

The jolly Roger's Inn And Pier has been my getaway for over 20 years. It is not "fancy", but what you get is peace and serinity and nice people. The fishing is usally excellent, and you always feel like you are coming back home.

First, to explain the island: Topsail ISLAND consists of (going north to south) North Topsail, Surf City and Topsail. There are two bridges to the island: one coming onto the north end of North Topsail, or one coming into Surf City. If you come over the bridge at Surf City and can find parking during the summer months, do so.... More

The heavy intoxicating odor of mold was overwhelming. Poor view and sealed windows the only way to get fresh air was to sleep with doors open. The worst over rated hotel i have every stayed in. It was over priced and my kids begged to leave we left in the morning hours bad experience. Lady in office was very short... More

For the money we spent on this place we were extremely disappointed. We were on the Bottom floor with no view. Tiny room without a window and a door that was extremely hard to open and close. In fact the cleaning ladies left it open twice during our stay. The A.C. leaked in the floor continuously we had to put... More

The Inn is in a high demand beach summer location, so I guess that's how they justify their price. The staff was ok, the older man was nice enough, but basically the vibe I got was that we know we're the only game in town (busy weekend) so take it or leave it, just very casual, not customer service oriented.... I gave the place one star because I couldn't give it none. We had stayed here several years ago and enjoyed its old-beach-resort funkiness, but this year our experience was not at all enjoyable. The office staff were downright surly. The room we were given smelled strongly of cat urine, even though there is a no pet policy. The pull-out... More

I have stayed here twice and the rooms are clean. They definitely have bumped up the price on the rooms along with guests being charged on pier fee even though we stay at the inn. I thought they weren't charging the guests who stay at the inn when I was here last time, but still charged us full $13 per... More

This was our first time here and we were a little disappointed for the money it cost. The rooms are outdated and basic. We had one of the efficiencies which was smaller than we imagined but oh well. Ice machine not working and had to beg for some ice for the cooler. Of course there were some positives...the staff was... More

Unless your renting a house for your stay on Topsail; your choices are somewhat limited. If you have a pet (dog) it gets even more complicated....there's Tiffany's and Sea Vista. I liken the Jolly Roger to a Sea Vista without pets. Tiffany's is about the same, but a short proximity to the beach. Sea Vista has a better location of... More
