These cabins are Circa 1930, but with modern updates that give you today's comfort with yesterday's feel. After a day of hiking and exploring in the Smoky Mountains, you can come home to a quaint living room with a real wood fireplace and relive the day's adventure with a glass of wine. When you turn out the lights, the only... More

When I needed to make reservations for a place to stay for Family Weekend (for Western Carolina University), I looked the few places there were in the area and settled on Mountain Brook Cottages - and I'm glad I did! The first time we stayed (Sep 12) there we had a one-bedroom cottage and it was very quaint (the picture... More

Returning guests are our favorite, and we thank you for your second visit! Hope we'll see you many more times when you visit Western Caolina University. I apologize for the misunderstanding about the "breakfast". Please call or email me so that we know where that impression came from ...we need to correct it for future guests. All of our cottages... I took my girlfriend to Mountain Brook Cottages for her 50th birthday and to see the fall colors in the mountains. We loved it all. We can't say enough how much we enjoyed Mountain Brook Cottages. The cabins are quaint and cozy, not to mention affordable. If you go, then just go withe the right expectations. It was perfect for... More

Tony, we really enjoyed your visit and want to use your quote about the Thomas Kincaid painting in our guest comment section...you've described us to a "T", even including the expectation level. We try to portray our cottages as they are - not condos - not high-end hotels - not upscale resorts - but an historic place in time when... More

My wife and I were in the area for a weekend getway and we stayed for 2 nights. We found the cottage to be clean and comfortable but the furnishings were a bit dated. The cottages were close enough to Sylva and Franklin to allow us to several dinning options and shopping if we needed it. If you are looking... More

We love this place for all the right reasons... accommodations, service, seclusion, cleanliness, friendliness. It allows us to feel like we've found a hideaway from the world, yet still venture out to gourmet restaurants, shopping, attractions and mountain scenery.

Second stay / visit at Mountain Brook Cottages was as pleasent and relaxing as first visit. Clean and quiet. Excellent service provided by owner and staff. Close enough to some very nice local dining spots and shopping conveniences while still tucked away in an old school mountain vacation spot. Family enjoyed "Mom Approved Rafting" down the road.

Our first time to Mountain Brook Cottages, as a stay on our road trip. Loved the location, very close to nature and peaceful. Collecting our firewood to make fire each night, became a favourite activity, as we enjoyed simple pleasures, away from phones and tv. You can check in with wifi, if you needed, which was good know and equally... More

I must tell you that when you just can't stand the world and need some time to regroup, head to Mountain Brook......just sit back on the pouch and listen to the sounds of nature, not the boob tube!!!! Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Nestled among majestic hardwoods, right in the middle of anything you could possibly want to do in Western North Carolina, is a gathering of quaint cottages dating back to the 1930’s and owned by the same family since 1979. Each cottage has something special to offer and has its own flair, neither one like the other. Modern on the inside, it’s the naturally beautiful scenic setting outside that means so much to our guests. Native trees. Brooks that criss-cross the property. Rhododendron thickets. Wild violets. Trails. Birdsong, squirrels, birds, bunnies. In the twilight, rocking gently on your front porch swing, enjoying the evening breeze, the charming cottages will, as a guest recently reviewed, remind you of a Thomas Kinkade painting. If your expectations of your Smoky Mountain visit are more of nature and less of glitz, you’ll be delighted you’ve found Mountain Brook! ... more   less
