This was our first visit to Moonshine Creek. I don't think it will be out last. We searched endlessly for a small, quite campground in the heart of the Smokey Mountains in North Carolina. Not only are the owners exceptionally helpful and wonderful hosts, Jim has the unique ability to tell you the history of the area and quite colorful... More

My husband and I have just returned from our annual vacation at Moonshine Creek Campground. This is our 11th year and we look forward to going each year. We have invited family members out in the last couple of years flying from from New Orleans and Los Angeles and they just love this place. They are looking forward to their... More

I camped here several times in my tent by the waterfall, and in a cabin. It is in a gorgeous, secluded area of the Western NC mountains with a beautiful stream running through it and a pond. I heard they are starting to do very small, intimate weddings in their chapel soon as well. The owners, Dana and Jim, as... More

This was the first time to moonshine creek for Laura and I. I picked this spot from the pics and description from the internet. I can honestly say that we are so glad that we found this little piece of heaven. We weren't looking for a pool, fancy concrete pads, modern bath houses, etc. We were looking for a beautiful,... We have stayed at Moonshine Creek many times. We have utilized the cabins as well as tent sites. We have found that every time we have stayed, we have had wonderful service. The owners are very welcoming and even have come to our campsite to chat and ask how everything is! They come by several times a day and clean... More

The setting is beautiful. The altitude is above 3,000 feet and a fast flowing creek runs through the campground. The showers and restrooms are extremely dated, somewhat dirty and needed upkeep. You can tell that they originally invested money and loving care in putting it together but haven't invested in the showers and toilets for a very long time.

Thank you for coming to Moonshine Creek Campground. The Campground is beautiful in the mountains and on a rushing creek, we are very fortunate to have such a lovely piece of the mountains. I am sorry you did not see the bathrooms behind the office for the tenters they are brand new and an example of what the main bathhouse... More

We love this campground, especially for kids! The staff is so nice and helpful. We stayed in camping cabin 5 this weekend and had a great time. We were in a cabin, but were still able to have the camping experience. The cabin was nice and clean, close to the bathroom, and had a lot of room. The kids loved... More

What a beautiful place! As you pull up you are greeted by a cheerful creek that winds throughout the campground. We stayed in the cottage at the back of the site. . .very private and new. It must 've been built in the last year or two. Well maintained and landscaped, it was truly a joy to stay here. Everyone... More

After two terrible experiences on my trip in the Asheville area I had pretty much expected the worst out of this place and I was very happy to be wrong. This is a hidden gem that we would visit again. The stream and pond are so beautiful. We had a creekside site 25 and it had a fire ring right... More
