I stayed here for about 3 weeks in Feb. and March 2014. I hadn't planned to stay that long, but the property was peaceful (mostly), and the local Asheville-area residents were lovely. While I was there, I was among only a handful of other guests, and we all were far outnumbered by the resident ducks and geese. A river runs... More

My family gets together every year here and we get 3 campsites. The staff is great!! We have had great experiences here, the ice cream sundae social, the pancake breakfast on Saturdays and the dancing for the kids at night. One year it rained so much that the river was high and they expected it to get worse, all of... More

First the positives: Friendly welcome, level site & clean laundry. Now the negatives: The site is right next to stretch of railway track with lots of road crossings this meant that there were hideously loud train whistles continuously throughout the night which resulted in very little sleep for either of us - neither of us are are light sleepers but... Asheville East KOA is very convenient to Asheville via I40. Scenery is nice. Campsites are a bit too together close for my liking, but are clean and level. Our site, A4 backed right up to the Swannanoa River and was convenient to the clean but dated bathhouse. The laundry and slopsink area is whistle clean, and air conditioned. Bring your... More

We had a good stay at this KOA but the sites are so close that on this busy weekend it was uncomfortable. We stayed at site A12 which was listed as "on the river" but, "in sight of the river", would be more accurate. It was probably 50 yards and across a big mud hole to the river. They were... More

The service here was very good, and the location itself and general amenities were very good (though we didn't use anything besides the pool). The bathrooms were a bit outdated, especially compared with the other KOAs we stayed at on this trip. The train tracks run right alongside the campground though, and made it distracting when trying to sleep. The... More

Stayed at this campground for five days in July 2013. Was very happy with this campground. The cabin was clean and situated near the woods. The view of the mountains behind the lake is beautiful. This campground is very close to Asheville and most attractions. I would recommend this camground to anyone. Great place to stay!

This is always a favorite family spot and close to everything around the Blue Ridge mountains. We spend six days here, never bored with the accompanying scenery. On 276 a short drive away, you can spend a day going down and find swimming holes, Looking Glass Falls, and a special tubing park that ends near 280. We book early to... More

For 42 dollars a night the premium spot on the river is great. The traffic noise isn't an issue, really, if you're listening to the sounds if the river. I found the staff in general to be lacking in manners. The young lady who checked me in for my first night was wonderful. The lady who checked us in today... More
