When I had to come to Sparta for work I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodations at the Alleghany Inn. Simply put, there are not a lot of lodging options in Sparta and I sort of planned on staying in a dive of a place. However, for an older style Hotel the Alleghany Inn is well maintained, clean, and has... More

Being that they are the only game in town their rates are extremely reasonable. We were there for a volleyball tourney at the high school which is right across the street. Rooms were spacious enough and clean. Shower pressure was a little low. Receptionist was extremely nice. 2nd time staying here with no regrets. BTW restaurant in front of hotel... More

My husband and I stayed here the weekend after Christmas while visiting family in Sparta. We stayed in the conference building which was a larger room. It was very clean and quiet. The room had a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker and hair dryer. Very friendly staff and we would definitely stay here again.

Clean room. Nice comfortable bed. Odor hinted may have once been smoking. But not too bad. Nice receptionist. Extra pillows no problem. There are not many choices in Sparta, NC. This is an older hotel.

Katina & I went to the mountains last week-end with our Mustang Club for a tour of several wineries. Our group of 20 club members stayed the Alleghany Inn on Friday & Saturday night. Most of us stayed in the conference hall; a portion of the hotel with conference room, kitchen amenities and about 10 rooms....we had a blast! We... More

Perfectly functional hotel for its rating. Older well maintained facility with staff eager to help. I would stay again This is not a four star facility and does not promote itself as such so I am surprised with some of the criticisms. It was everything I needed and everything I paid for.

Western North Carolina as a natural wonderland. Not a place to flop in a hotel, Allegheny Inn is a perfect place to base time in those mountains. Immaculate large room, all expected amenities, comfortable climate control, staff good beyond expectation, quiet location, (Wi-Fi a bit feeble but you are in the mountains- ATT coverage non-existant-Not hotel's fault) several restaurants nearby... Room was really large which very clean, spotless. Desk staff very poliet and helpful. Even allowed me to use his cell phone since ATT did not have coverage. Only down side is this hotel is not pet friendly. I would most certainly stay there again if ever in Sparta.

After all it is a very small town so this explains some of the comments. It is an old motel but reasonably well maintained. Furniture was old and the other boarders appeared to be from the highway construction crews. They served coffee in the lobby. The receptionist was very helpful with directions. WiFi was weak and I had to sit... More

This hotel has been well maintained and is very clean. The staff is friendly and gave us excellent recommendations on where to eat. They are definitely motorcycle friendly and will stay here again if passing through.
