While this motel is not a five star establishment, the views will definitely win you over! They were spectacular! Everything was clean but attention to detail was lacking. For example, there were burnt out light bulbs and the toilet was sitting on a shim. You could walk to the majority of restaurants and since we were there overnight it was... More

Found this hotel online researching info on Southport. Friend trying to mark item off bucket list seeing Bald Head and Oak Island lighthouses. Location is perfect as you can see both from the back porch. Views from the porch are the best. This is definitely a retro mom and pop type hotel but it was neat and respectably clean. Had... More

The location is fabulous!!! Walking distance to everything, refrigerator in room and very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the boats. This note is for the owners and just a couple of things that would make this cozy little place a little better: Please replace those old hard pillows. I am a very light sleeper and the... More

We stayed in Room 4. The room looked great, was clean and very homy. Had a good view from the back patio swing and was within walking distance to all kinds of shops and great eating places as well as piers. They cleaned it everyday. Have no complaints and plan on coming back again next year.

I travel often with my husband. This was not our usual cookie cutter hotel! We felt as if we had been transported back to the 50's which is not a bad thing. We chose it because I was able to walk to places in town during the day when he needed the car. It was perfect for that. We walked... More

This place is awesome ! The view with the chairs and swing out by the waterway was great. We stayed 2 nites and had a bottle of wine each evening sitting in our chairs out on the lawn beside the water . Where else can you do that? And the price with that view can't be beat. The staff was... More

What a wonderful find! Looking forward to next year. What a great location and you can't beat the view. We stayed in #4 and it was perfect. Clean and enough bspace room for the 2 of us and our bikes to be comfortable. We enjoyed the back swing, watching the boats, walking in the grass. Just a great motel in... More

As others have noted, this is an older hotel, though well maintained overall. It is not a polished example of modern innkeeping. We stayed in #5, which was clean, and everything worked. The back patio gives a great view of the river, and as we sat on the bench swing, we watched a number of trawlers, private sportfishermen, and the... More

I've stayed here several times, and it has some great points (although if you're looking for a modern, sterile motel room, this is not your cup of tea). It's right beside the Cape Fear River, and most of the rooms have a back deck with chairs/swing, so you can sit out there and watch the boats go by, in some... More

This motel is a bit rustic looking and if you are looking for a Four Seasons experience, this is not it. But, it is clean, the lady checking us in was most pleasant and helpful with local information, and you are a couple of blocks from the visitor center, restaurants, lovely historic homes, quaint shops. The motel is right on... More
