Stayed recently on an overnighter. Had a single room in the back block. It was clean, had a decent shower, a nice bed and working AC. Didn't know the front bar was a skimpy bar when I went to collect my key so that was an interesting surprise. Maybe leave your kids in the car when checking in! Would say... More

I'm a little puzzled by some of the negative reviews here , this is my 8th stay now and it ticks all the boxes for me. This is a workers hotel in a high vis working area . I stay here because the rooms are comfortable , have air con , clean bathrooms have many fox channels available and feature... More

Picked up the key from the front bar which had a skimpy barmaids in it so DONT TAKE THE KIDS THERE. The rooms were fine, shower is a little small but all neat and tidy within. The main door had a crack in it like someone had tried to open it. I would stay again but would like a room... More

We stayed for several nights in the recently renovated ocean view room. As the amount of worker accomodation is being constructed in Karratha this hotel is now easy to book and in a fantastic location. Beautiful views over the islands and a chance to catch spectacular sunsets were a standout experience.Doors leading to the balcony can be opened to take... More

Stayed here at the Dampier Mermaid for a few nights with work. Opted for the 'ocean view' room, mine was upstairs, with a great view of well, the ocean. There is also downstairs ocean view rooms. (May 2014 $199 p/night) The other rooms look to be in the middle of the hotel grounds, may be a little noisier but like... More

As with all hotels in mining towns the prices were horribly inflated. I was expecting a lot more for the money I paid. Priced for mining employees, not the average traveller. I was given death stares by the permanent residents as soon as I drove in. Had a view of the staff accommodation, and the back entrance to the pub.... More

My husband and I traveled to the Mermaid from Port Headland on our way home to Carnarvon. I would like to say that I don't believe that I am hard to please and when I planned our two week trip to Cape Leveque I researched places to stay realizing that most of the places (towns) that we were planning to... Yes, a very basic motel and everything you expect of one. A little on the expensive side considering what you get for the price. Probably a bed for the night if you are travelling but not a very comfortable bed. Because of the mining industry they charge what they can but anywhere else you would not bother staying. The restaurant... More

My wife and myself were coming by car from Ningaloo Reef, where we diving with the whale sharks. We choose Karratha, beacause it was the first bigger city on the map going North, which had an airport for flying to Darwin. By this we avoided to fly back to Perth from Exmouth / Learmonth, which is the closest airport to... More
