We, (15 older bus passengers) were looking for somewhere comfortable, clean & affordable after a long days travel. The Ararat Colonial Lodge Motel filled the bill with 7 pre-booked rooms. Together with a continental b'fast we were well rested for our next day's travel.

My friends and I are university students who went on a road trip to the grampians. On the way may we enountered some car problems and ended up getting stranded in Ararat at 8pm with our vehicle being towed to a local RACV depot. So we were stuck in Ararat for the night without much money. We went to the... More

My friends and I were stranded in Ararat that night and we needed to find a hotel to stay in. This is was the nearest one. After explaining out situation to the staff at reception. He was very understanding of our situation and allowed us all to crash in 1 room and even gave us a discount. We were very... More

I stayed in room 5. The shower went from scalding hot to freezing cold, so got exercise jumping in and out of the shower. Decor is very old. Couldnt adjust air conditioning. There is a button to turn it on or off. There is even a button for the electric blanket. No wifi in the room. Plenty of parking. Good... More

we stayed in room 1, and were very disappointed, the room was very dated and has not seen any maintenance since Ned Kelly stayed there. The desk staff were excellent and went out of their way to fulfill any of our requests, 10/10 for their effort. Very overpriced for what was presented, they really need to spend a bit on... More

We are a family of 3 travelling from Adelaide to Melbourne on a Friday. We decided to stop when it got dark and Ararat it was - got onto Tripadvisor, ended up here and were pleasantly surprised. The desk guy was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and warm, although the decor was interesting. Surprisingly, it was also very... More

Room was nice, heating good, internet connection wasn't great, kept dropping out, gave up on it! Comfy bed, didn't get much sleep though with the alarms over at the supermarket across the road going off at 3am! Horrid blue tiles in the bathroom & entry though! Lol Accidently left my ipod charger in the room, rang them at 3pm when... More

Big, comfortable room that has received a lovely facelift since we stayed there last year. Lovely decor, including a modern, comfortable king size bed, couch and small dining setting. A modern panel wall heater worked a treat - especially on the night it dropped below zero degrees! Foxtel was an added bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be... More

We settled on this motel after driving past the original one that we had booked which looked overgrown and abandoned. The Colonial was very tired inside. Rooms were dark and cold and curtains required repair. One light was not working. The television system was very old fashioned and difficult to operate and the tele itself was the size of a... More
