On a romantic weekend away in South Australia we decided late to stay at the Barossa Valley...booked this retreat, mistakenly thinking it was linked to one of my regular wines...Jacobs Creek. We had a bit of confusion finding the place as we first went to Jacobs Creek winery, where we were told they had no bookings for their voltages that night.I felt a... We have been touring Australia and this is one of the highlights of our travel. We were met by Charles , what an absolute gentleman, who showed us our room and then a guided tour with history of the grounds. He even arranged evening meals in local restaurants which was really good as we had no idea of where to... More

Jacobs Creek Retreat, situated in the heart of the Barossa is only minutes to Tanunda. On arrival we were greeted by the owner of the property who insisted we wine taste with him at the cellar door until Charles (the host) arrived - who would say no? Charles was most accommodating, showing us around the grounds, providing local knowledge and... More

The buildings and grounds here are stunning. It's a quiet, relaxing place to stay. But, this is definitely not a resort, it's glorified B&B. It's absolutely fine if that's what you want, but very disappointing if it isn't. Not at all good value for the price. The rooms are tiny. Breakfast is only available during a very short, inconvenient window... More

Have a fantasy of owning an old, vineyard estate? If so, you can live it out at this stunner of a retreat in fabulous Barossa. We only stayed here one night due to our schedule, but I was longing for many more. Charles, the host, is gregarious, helpful, and has thought of every comfort. Our room was extremely well appointed,... More

Just spent two nights at this beautiful retreat. The accommodation is amazing, beautiful stone cottages with exquisite furniture. The king size bed was a real treat. We stayed in the orchard suite which was very private. The only slightly negative thing I have to say about this retreat is that the breakfast is not to the same standard as the... More

WOW! This retreat was perfect! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Charlie (the owner) who showed us around the resort and checked us into our loft suite. The suite was great, furnished to perfection and a good mix of new and old, keeping the old 1840's original building vibe but with added comforts like a king size... More

Maybe we read between the lines of the website and got things wrong but we went here expecting more of a country hotel, with the full service that comes with that, rather than a B&B with minimal (but admittedly very friendly) service. (ie the staff go at 5pm and don't reappear till breakfast the next morning). So if you go... More

We were looking for something a bit different to a hotel as we stay in hotels a lot for business so this retreat satisfied our wishes. Charles made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed the setting and decor - it is a true retreat. We stayed two nights and could easily have stayed longer had we not already booked... More
