We arrived about 9pm after visiting Mount Gambier and not realising how long it would take us to get to Robe. As we had telephoned beforehand to let the owners know we would be late, they left our apartment key in the safe, which was fine. On inspecting our two-bedroom apartment, we thought the furnishing was old fashioned although it... More

Initially quite tricky to find as we weren’t expecting to be staying in a heritage property but what a gem when we found it ~ the first house to be built in Robe. Parking for the four units in a quiet area of town with plenty of walks around for those who enjoy the sea. A telephone station listed the... More

Don’t be one of dozens of guests who write “I wish we had booked more than one night” in the Visitor Guest Book. Robe House, being the first house built in Robe in 1847, is perfectly located for visitors to explore Robe’s history with several kilometres of carefully constructed walking paths along the impressive limestone cliffs around the Lake Butler... An excellent B&B and a great first place to stop on a trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. It seemed a little quirky upon arrival but quickly appreciated it's extremely comfortable environment and lovely garden. Only stayed one night but would have happily stayed longer. Very friendly owners and the place is immaculately maintained. Recommended.

Stayed only one night in this charming and well equipped bed and breakfast, but would happily have stayed longer. Andrew and Sally the hosts were very attentive, the room beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean and the supplied breakfast provisions abundant. The place has real Aussie character -made a refreshing change from the hotels we were otherwise staying in. Robe is... More

Thanks Bob for your review of Robe House - we really appreciate your comments. Robe House is a unique building with very thick stone walls which poses a problem with the wi fi signal. We are faced with either providing free wi fi on the veranda or undergoing an expensive re wiring of the building to install wi fi in... More

Four of us stopped off for one night. I read that it was the original building in Robe and I noticed that quite a few houses in Robe had blue plates as they were famous for something or other The place was gloomy but that was OK for one night. The Wi-Fi was intermittent and to get a signal you... More

Thanks for taking the time to review Robe House. The house was the first to be built in Robe and is quite a unique building. In recent years the local National Trust branch has installed blue information plaques on most of the old historic buildings in Robe for the benefit of visitors - they give a brief history and a... I My sister and I stayed at Robe House for three nights a couple of weeks ago. Whilst not a hotel, it is a marvellously appointed self-catering bed and breakfast just a short walk from the harbour at Robe. The weather was cold, and the electric blankets on the beds and the warm fire in the sitting room were most... More

A great 3 night stay at Robe House Bed and Breakfast, restored historical home with the historical integrity retained, while being especially comfortable and practical and spotlessly clean ( thanks Viv!). The Owners Andrew and Sally were really gracious and genuinely concerned about welcoming us and taking care of our needs. The breakfast supplies were ample and the cozy fire... More

Arrived late and owner had prepared our rooms by leaving lights on and a welcoming warm fire for us. Rooms were very comfortable, books, games music & DVDs were also supplied. We enjoyed sitting in the verandah admiring the garden. Robe House is a short walk from the marina. The breakfast provisions were very good. Staff were very friendly.

We were passing through on a drive from Melbourne to Adelaide and stopped in at the local tourist information centre and they told us about Robe House. What a find. It is one of the most charming places we have ever stayed in. Like I said in the heading 'a real hidden gem'. The owner was most charming and helpful.... More
