Went there for lunch and dinner (only place in town for a pub type meal). Menu is decidedly ordinary, as is the wine list (in the middle of a great wine area!). Food took an hour to arrive on each occasion and the staff were completely overwhelmed by what I would have though was just and average day (two tables... More

Another day out with the Ulysses( motorcycle club for mature adults Over 45) on the 19th of April landed us at the Magpie & Stump hotel in Mintaro, Clare Valley, South Australia. There were about 15 or 16 of us here to enjoy a lunch in a wonderfully peaceful & historic setting. The little town of Mintaro is certainly worth... More

Spent a fantastic couple of hours sat in the beer garden at the front of the pub. Mintaro is a beautiful little heritage town and the pub is right in the heart of it. The food is basic pub grub but was tasty, fresh and very well presented. Well worth popping in if you're in the area.

We stopped off here for lunch on a lovely sunny Sunday, from the outside it looks very authentic and welcoming. The staff were friendly but the meal was decidedly average. The burger was ok nothing special in taste terms but it had so much stacked on top of it that it was very off putting. The extras were all mentioned... More

Great place to eat. I had Prosciutto wrapped around salmon- really great. For a great place to stay, just up the road is "The Olde Lolly Shoppe" B&B- what a great set up for about $140 a night you get bedroom, lounge room with open fire and bathroom with shower and spa bath,

I can remember when you would not let your dog eat in this pub. Then along came Linden, and boy what a transformation. The grounds are spectacular and when you walk into the front bar you can not help but notice how clean the hotel is. Ray the barman poured us some cold beers and was friendly and obliging, an... We stopped at the Magpie and Stump for a beer while driving around the back roads and byways of the Clare valley. The bar trade at midday was comprised of my wife and myself and three locals who seemed to be permanent fixtures. The service was friendy and the beer was cold and it is worth stopping by to realise,... More

After reading other reviews we were a bit worried, but we enjoyed our meal here. Standing by the fire chatting to the locals on arrival was really interesting, and we had a very tasty meal - (without a long wait) next to an open log fire. Would verry happily go back again.

We ate here twice while we stayed in Mintaro.and never had too much of an issue. The owner has a very dry sense of humor but was honest when we ordered and told us they were very busy and our meals would take over an hour to come out.....which we didnt mind as it was a friday night and the...
