After a ten hour drive from south of Adelaide, and a return trip from Birdsville, a welcome overnight stay in cabin accommodation. On both occasions good meals and complimentary breakfasts added to the pleasurable stay. Cold Coopers beer was pretty welcome too!!

Marree is one of those towns you must visit on the way to the simpson desert or lake eyre. Had a couple drinks and dinner at the Maree hotel, food was ok, prices were fair considering its the outback. Staff were very polite and the service was good.

We stayed for 2 nights as part of a DownUnder trip and were amazed at the standard of accommodation. We were in an ensuite cabin that was spacious and clean, TV, reverse a/c, en-suite which was also large but had no shower recess as such, so after someone had had a shower, the floor was extremely slippery, but that was... Thank you Ann for taking the time to post a review. We take note of what our guests are saying and we have taken on board your comment regarding the slippery bathroom floor. As they say, if you don't tell us we don't know! Phil and I both enjoy chatting to our guests and either both or at least one... More

If you're looking for accommodation in this remote outback area, you will appreciate this hotel, there are rooms in the old pub, motel style cabins and demountable cabins. Our group had a private dining room and chose from the excellent menu, the owners told their story about acquiring and renovating the old hotel - a fascinating adventure for the ex-Canberra... More

Everyone who passes through our hotel has a story to tell, and Phil and I love to chat to our guests and hear about why they are visiting Marree. Some are on coach tours, most are 4WD enthusiasts and just out to enjoy what the Outback has to offer. There is so much to see and so much history. Some... More

You need to book in the rooms in the original old building not the demountables outside. This is a serious outback hotel owned by Phil and Maz. Phil was a management consultant in Canberra before he decided on an extreme change of life. He is good for at least ah 30 minute conversation. The hotel is all you would expect... More

Yes I must admit Phil does love to have a chat! He has a great knowledge of the Outback after spending 40 years travelling through some of the remotest areas in the country. He has a great knowledge of the Lake Eyre region, it's roads, and places you should visit to get the most out of your time in the... More

A great place to stay to start your outback journey from. Great food, service and the owners are there to ensure an enjoyable stay. You can stay in one of the hotel rooms upstairs or as we did in a cabin which are perfect for a family.

The location of our Hotel is perfectly located on the junction of the Birdsville and Oodnadatta Tracks so is a great launching point whether you are doing a loop across the Simpson Desert, the Outback Loop through Birdsville, Innamincka and the Strzelecki Track, or heading up the Oodnadatta Track to Alice. An iconic outback hotel owned by a great couple. Accommodation is in very clean in comfortable and secure traveler cabins. Have a beer in this great Australian pub and, for dinner, try the Marree Hotel wine. The town is an old rail head and then a stop on the original Ghan line before it was moved to the west.

There is indeed a lot of history in the town and it's nice to wander around the old railway siding. You also have a nice view of Marree and the railway from the upstairs verandah. Also a great place to sit and have a cold one! More

I did return for a second and longer stay as promised in my previous TripAdvisor review (April 2013). Again, I travelled solo on a motorcycle and stayed for six nights (13th – 18th April, 2015). I had booked well in advance and was given room No 6 on the first floor with direct access to the balcony. I really loved... More

We love hearing that people who have stayed with us previously are now returning to enjoy more of our Outback hospitality! Hopefully on each return the work we are continually doing is noticed. We are in a constant state of bringing more history into the Hotel for people to enjoy. Most recently we have put up information on Donald Campbell... More

I came here with my sone and nephew after a wonderful trip through the Northern Flinders Ranges. We stayed for two nights in one of the poolside units and found it to be spacious (easily accommodating 3 beds), clean and practically laid out. The owners, Maz and Phil were very helpful and attentive. It was a great base to explore... More

It's also wonderful for Phil and I to enjoy the company of the many and varied visitors that pass through our Hotel. We love hearing about where people have come from and the adventure they are currently enjoying. The bar is a great place for everyone to chat and share their stories. Unlike city hotels, an Outback Pub is the... More

If I were to drive the Strezelecki, Oodnadatta or Birdsville tracks again (and I most probably will) I will be sure to make the Marree Hotel part of the agenda. Phil and Maz are great hosts and treat all guests like family. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the food is surprisingly good. The staff are largely backpackers and... More
