Fantastic, town really well looked after and the hotel as well. We have stayed in a lot of older hotels and this one is up there for cleanliness, hospitality and historical content. Food and staff great and it was nice to meet and talk to the locals in the pub. The rooms are all you could ask for in an... More

We stayed 1 night in a motel room (pool side room) room was clean and a reasonable size, bathroom was good, however shower was an open arrangement with shower water going over most of the floor. Staff were very friendly, meals good and drinks cold. Pool was clean and refreshing. Ok for a stop over. Continental breakfast was included in... More

I stayed at the Marree Hotel for one night on Easter Sunday (31.3.2013), traveling on a motorcycle from Port Augusta (see separate review) en route to Birdsville and beyond. As I arrived in the mid-afternoon, I had plenty of time to explore this small but historic township after check in. The hotel itself, is a simple two story Victorian style... More

Camping Facilities We arrived in Marree after a very long, dusty day on the road just after dusk. The food at the hotel was fantastic, the beer cold and the staff okay as regards service. It gets very busy when the buses get in, so go for a work to the only store in the town and eat there. The... More

What a remarkable experience over the Marree Cup weekend June 2012 ...street party out the front of the Maree Hotel Friday night. DJ on the back of a truck, 44 gallon drum log burning heaters and 2-3 hundred locals and visitors mingling, dancing and yarning. New proprietors Phil and Maz have certainly turned the place around from the attitude of... More

They say Australia is a land of contrast and this could not be truer than my recent experience at The Marree Hotel. Following my previous report written in October 2010 titled "Poor Management" I vowed never to set foot into this establishment ever again. On learning of the Hotel's change of ownership, I decided that "never" was too long, and... More

We had a fabulous time in Marree, staying in the camp area of the Marree Hotel for three nights. Phil and the staff were very friendly & obliging and the meals and drinks were top class and affordable. The camp ground and camp showers were clean and tidy so we were very comfortable. Keep up the good work!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Phil and Marilyn Turner took over the iconic Marree Hotel in October 2011 and is now barely recognisable as the hotel it was before. With classic outback service, cold beer on tap, clean and comfortable rooms and a great dinner menu, the Marree Hotel offers much more than you can expect in this remote area. The Marree hotel is proud to boast 3 dining rooms, a cafe, campground, pool, hot showers, bar, en-suite/air-conditioned rooms, The 'Tom Kruse' / Back of Beyond collection, a stunning Lake Eyre mural and 130 years of history. Situated at the branch of the iconic Birdsville and Oodnadatta tracks the hotel dominates the skyline for miles. ... more   less
