You can really experience a bit of outback life here. Expect really good accommodation with good sized and clean rooms, a clean pool and some really good food and hospitality. First night we asked for the Steaks that were on the menu but the road train was late. Brilliant that just adds to the outback feeling and gives you a... More

We arrived late on a very blustery night, in the midst of a power failure and went into a cabin. Parking very tight in the back area of the hotel, especially with many larger 4WDs. Basic facilities but comfortable bed. A sign said not to drink the water but there was no other water provided for drinking or tea/coffee. Luckily... More

We stayed in the hotel itself, rather than a cabin and I'm glad we did! Being an old building, the walls are thick and block out almost all of the noise from the crowds downstairs (it was a Friday night and the locals were having a great time!). The 12 foot ceilings in the room make it feel more spacious,... More

Friendly, helpful, ideal set up to start off an outback trip. We found Marilyn and Phil to be great hosts on an unexpectedly very busy night they remained unflappable and helped everyone. Maree is a typical isolated outback town, but the atmosphere and services in Marree are great.

We arrived late afternoon after a long drive from Oodnadatta and received a warm welcome from the owners. Our cabin was clean and spacious, the bathroom is very large. Our friends were using their camper trailer and had the use of the camping ground at the back of the hotel for free. They could come into the hotel for a... More

Stayed here after the Flinders Ranges enroute up the Ondnadatta Track to Coober Pedy. Ensuite rooms are modern transportable pods at the rear of the hotel - just like you would expect in a modern mining camp. Modern and comfortable. Range of other accommodation available. Drunken Beef Dinner was excellent pub fare. Continuental self serve breakfast in brick floored room... More

This was once a major stopping point on the Transcontinental line to Alice Springs and was the Break of Gauge changeover point from the 19050's to 1980. A graceful building well restored in the formal areas, extra accommodation has been introduced with demountable cabins adjacent to the pub. These are comfortable, self contained and very clean. The meals and wine... More

We visited with our 2 kids on way through from NSW to Qld via Birdsville track. We stayed in a cabin which was clean and a quiet place to sleep. Hotel meals were great and we enjoyed looking through the hotel's photo collections.

Stayed one night in a motel room. Good size but very old tired carpet and furnishings which gave the impression of being less than clean! Did not attempt to move curtains as only 3 or 4 hooks holding them up. Felt that no effort is made with the rooms because there is nowhere else to stay in town. However the... More

A big thanks to all who have posted reviews. We monitor and take notice. As most know, Phil and Maz purchased the Marree Hotel in October 2011 and we're working through the process of transforming the hotel into a classic outback experience for all those seeking superior accommodation, food, service and beer on tap. We are well on track with... More

Fantastic, town really well looked after and the hotel as well. We have stayed in a lot of older hotels and this one is up there for cleanliness, hospitality and historical content. Food and staff great and it was nice to meet and talk to the locals in the pub. The rooms are all you could ask for in an... More
