Accommodation options in tiny Marree are limited, so lucky the Marree Hotel has lots to offer in terms of accommodation, food and beverages, down-home hospitality and all-round outback charm. We stayed two nights as part of a group, in one of the 'dongas' out the back of the hotel. The room was fine, clean and surprisingly spacious with a comfy... More

This sure aint the Hilton with dodgy plumbing and everything a bit rough around the edges, but this is your typical outback/country pub. The food was fantastic and owners very nice. We had an upstairs room with a family of four which did the job for the night. I was worried as there was no heating in the room, just... More

We stayed here overnight on our way to Arkaroola. We stayed in the cabins which were fine for 1 night or even longer. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fabulous. The Hosts, Maz and Phil, were lovely people. We spoke to Phil at the bar whilst enjoying afternoon drinks. He is a very nice man. We had dinner... More

Stayed for a night this week. Thank you Maz and Phil for looking after us all so well. Great food and good company. Nice, quiet rooms. You are doing a great job. Also enjoyed talking to some of the locals on a morning walk around the town.

We arrived on a Friday night which is darts night. What a great experience it was to see all the locals come in off the stations and play darts to raise money for the RFDS. The meal was very nice, the rooms were clean and neat. The owners were very freindly as were all of the staff. We will definitely... More

Last month we flew into Marree for a one night stay and wow, what a great stay at a classic old pub with outstanding hospitality. Marilyn met us at the airport and gave us the use of a car during our stay, the next day we drove around the whole town, (that took a good 5 mins). Like rats up... More

You will not receive better hospitality & service in a pub anywhere! Sitting at the bar talking with Andy, the barman, & other locals, wonderful meal with other visitors in one of the dining rooms & the very welcome hot showers provided for outback travelers who are camping, all made this a fantastic outback experience. Originally I wanted to visit... More

Because of it's remote location, the Marree Hotel may never receive an official international star rating, however, the hospitality and service that we received at the hotel truly was 5, or even 6 star. I've never felt more comfortable and relaxed in a hotel or bar anywhere else in the country. Nothing was too much for the knowledgeable, friendly and... More

You can really experience a bit of outback life here. Expect really good accommodation with good sized and clean rooms, a clean pool and some really good food and hospitality. First night we asked for the Steaks that were on the menu but the road train was late. Brilliant that just adds to the outback feeling and gives you a... More

We arrived late on a very blustery night, in the midst of a power failure and went into a cabin. Parking very tight in the back area of the hotel, especially with many larger 4WDs. Basic facilities but comfortable bed. A sign said not to drink the water but there was no other water provided for drinking or tea/coffee. Luckily... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Phil and Marilyn Turner took over the iconic Marree Hotel in late October 2011 and is now barely recognisable as the hotel it was before. With classic outback service and world class hospitality, cold beer on tap, clean and comfortable rooms and a fantastic dinner menu, the Marree Hotel offers much more than you would expect in this remote area. The Marree Hotel is proud to boast 3 dining rooms, a cafe, campground, pool, hot showers, bar, en-suite/air-conditioned rooms, The 'Tom Kruse' / Back of Beyond collection, a stunning Lake Eyre mural, aboriginal art gallery and over 130 years of history. Situated at the branch of the iconic Birdsville and Oodnadatta tracks the hotel dominates the skyline for miles. ... more   less
