We stayed at Pippies a night either side of the Fraser Island tag along tour. We arrived at Pippies and met up with everyone going on the tour itself, there was 24 of us in total. We had a 4 bed room with 2 bunk beds both nights we stayed there, the rooms were clean and they both had air-con... More

Rainbow beach only has a couple of hostels and I wouldn't be sure if Pippies is the best choice. Possibly not the worst either. Good points: - Right beside the Premier Bus & Greyhound bus stop (although all the hostels are). In general, a very good location; - Basic free breakfast; - Somewhat reliable wifi near in common areas. Bad... More

Rainbow Beach is tiny with only three hostels so not much choice. They're all right by the Greyhound stop and beach. Check in wasn't very informative and the sunset sand blow 'tour' wasn't on, you just had to go on your own. There was also confusion with other people checking in the wrong rooms so people were in and out... More

Stayed in a tent at Pippies for only $12 per night - cheapest accommodation in town,... free use off body-board - short walk to beach, nice pool, had fire in fire pit/fire drum at night - super friendly staff, most seating / common area is outside/in open... also, Pippies Tag-along tour to Fraser ISland was awesome,.. Brett was great guide... More

The hostel was quiet standard for a backpackers, I stayed in an off-site unit dorm which was a step up. Was clean but really hot. The mattress was a bit thin. Loved the atmosphere of Rainbow Beach. Overall well worth the stay.

I did the 3 day, 2 night Fraser trip with Pippies and it was a highlight of my year in Oz. Although it's not the best place I've ever stayed, the hostel itself exceeded expectations after reading some poor reviews. Denny is an awesome tour guide and the Fraser camp is great - especially after hearing horror stories about other... More

Rainbow beach is a very tiny town, so no there is not many accommodation offers. This backpacker lacks a lot of infrastructure, the room I stayed had a glass sliding door, looked more like an office than a room. Friendly staff and close to the beach.

Was not as impressed as I had hoped to have been. Staff were very friendly and clean rooms that's about all the pro's. Cons: Tiny dated kitchen with hardly any stuff to use. Free breakfast was just bread and spreads however never managed to get any as it ran out or was put out too late for me. Both BBQ... More

For sure it's an overrated accommodation, you will have an amazing trip in fraser island but this remains an average backpackers hostel. You can pay a few extra dollars and stay in a way better hostel/accommodation/vanpark/camp site. The building and the accommodations are quite old (power turned off twice today), wifi isn't working very good, place is tight and the... More

Stayed at pippies the night before and after our tour.... Nice hostel but limited showers and plugs in room we found. However the Fraser Island tour was the most incredible 3 days I've had in aus yet. Massive shout out to Brett the tour guide! Tell me a story! Great camp ground with toilet and showering facilities. Always busy and... More
