Had an upstairs room which was sweltering with only one ceiling fan. Toilet and shower are attached directly to each room. The british guy who was reception knew what he was doing. Which can often be a problem at hostels. $24 for a Saturday night. Plus 10$ key deposit. It was hot so the dorm room door was left open... More

I am very happy with this hostel. It is not to expensive, we had big a dorm in which was enough room for all our backpacks. One evening there was a free BBQ at the 1770 beach with a wonderful sunset. You can also use the pool of the hotel beside the hostel because they belong together and we were... More

When we got off the greyhound there was someone to pick us up to take us took the hostel but she didn't announce herself for ages so we were all just hanging around for a while. By the time we'd put all the bags and ourselves on the minibus the journey was literally 30 seconds to the hostel so it... More

The hostel is located near the main road, which makes it the hostel with the most perfect location in the area. The rooms and the kitchen are spacious and there are sofas and hammocks hung around the property. There's an option of free use of laundry machine as well. That said, this hostel is probably one of the worst I've... More

As per previous reviews - shower is shared one to ten people. Water goes everywhere. Dirty clothes left on the floor, would be ok but only one washing machine, hope my clothes don't go mouldy before I move on. Place is a huge hazard with cords running from the bathroom to the room to run fans. Not a good idea... More

I booked this place as it had the best reviews out of all the hostels in the area however I was unpleasantly surprised when I arrived. Pros: the staff are really friendly Great pool nearby Cons: Did not see any evidence of cleaning at all during my stay the rooms were filthy. Not enough plates in the kitchen even though... More

Have been at 1770 backpackers two times and the both times has been great! 1770BP is near to shops, beach and they have a great pool 5 minutes from the hostel! Great value and a great place to chill out for a few days!

No aircon and 10 people dorms, not nice in an Australian summer! Ended up booking in at hotel down the road. free WiFi and close to greyhound pick up, but don't stay here if you cant handle heat very well.

Stayed for only 1 night in a 10 person mixed dorm. The dorm was spacious and very clean - the bunk was comfortable, was one of the best sleeps i actually got in hostels. As mentioned there is a lack of plugs, so you have to use the few available ones in the kitchen and social area. Staff were friendly... More
