I was quite surprised by the luxury and service quality of the Qinghai Hotel, since Xining is an old Silk Road town in a remote corner of far northern China. Xining is the provincial capital of Qinghai and a booming industrial city--the luxury is probably aimed at government and commercial travelers; in three days I saw hundreds of other guest... More

I am in the hotel. It's 6 am, the bed has a thick quilt and the room temperature is 30 C. The air conditioning is pumping out hot air but the control is locked so I can't adjust it. The temperature outside is low but opening the window made little difference. The only reason I'm here is to get a... More

Xining is a nice city in the western part of China, the capital city of Qinghai province. Qinghai Hotel feels grand with a little bit of 80s feeling. The lobby is beautiful, the room is quite nice and clean. My room has a nice view to the hills near the hotel; decorated with some ornament and lightings (typical in China)

This hotel in the middle of Xining is a surprise. It is clean, comfortable, and well-designed, with good attention to details. The showers are the overhead rainfall type. The amenities are plentiful. The location is convenient to most everything in town. The staff has limited English, so make sure to have a phrase book if you don't speak Chinese.

The hotel is very well located close to nice restaurants and parks The room amenities are very modern and the decoration is great. The breakfast is very complete with food for any taste. The service is good and some hotel associates speak english. I recommend if you will be in the area

The hotel is nice and clean if a little expensive. It is a typical Chinese business hotel with a couple of staff people speaking English. They have a buffet restaurant that is good but not great. Xining itself is not a great place for tourists. Just a few spots to visit and a nice temple about 30Km south. I was... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night in order to catch the Himalayan Express to Llasa the next day. We should have done our homework better, and found a better hotel rather than accepting what was offered by the travel agent. The room had not been cleaned too well (especially the bathroom) and the lighting was poor. (Which is... More

I spent two nights at the Qinghai Hotel in Xining while paying field visits to rural areas west of Qinghai towards the Tibetan Plateau. It is possibly the most expensive hotel in this provincial capital but you get really willing and eager service. My room on the 16th Floor had splendid views. Some of the decor is a little tired,... Tall modern multi-storey building in central Xining which seems to do a lot of business trade (this area is a bit off the tourist beat). Set in pleasant area in centre and just a few minutes walk from a street market which is well worth a visit. Very nice large, comfortable room with good view up the valley towards Tibetan... More

We stayed 1 night and 1 day in the Qinghai Hotel in september 2007, while waiting to take the Lhasa express. The hotel is very poor and needs a serious refurbishing now that more people will take the train for Lhasa in Xining. This was the poorest Hotel we have been during our whole trip in China. Pretty rundown rooms,... More
