Very nice fish and chips served in nice surroundings. Called in here on the off chance we'd get somewhere to eat as it was last minute on a Saturday night but were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was (not sure that's good for the pub though!).

Took my Dad and brother for Sunday lunch, very disappointed. The restaraunt is soul less and the food mediocre. The potatoes were very dry and the beef over cooked. The apply and pineapple crumble was 60 per cent sultanas (odd they did not figure in the description!) The only light in the tunnel was the waiter who was very good.

We stayed here for one night on a dinner bed and breakfast package. To be honest we were not sure what to expect but we were very pleasantly surprised. OK we could have a few niggles as we are very fussy but all in all it was very enjoyable. It is quirky and the bedrooms are quirky but for example... More

The only reason not to stay here would be a phobia of pachyderms. There are many elephants in every room. We stayed for two nights while participating in the nearby Mapledurham at War event, making the reservation purely on the grounds of convenience. Firstly, parking should be a problem; there is a tight turn into a small courtyard, which can... More

Food was very average, but what was unforgivable was serving stale bread (and yes it was actually dry and unpleasant) with cheap processed olive oil (this was supposed to be the freshly baked bread patter with olive oil and balsamic and cost us £3.50). How can they serve this to people?

Wow! What can I say. I visited the Elephant with my 10&9year old +my 11 month old twins. The hotel were given short notice of our arrival, however our rooms were immaculate, the towels soft and the bed linen crisp. We had connecting rooms so I felt my older children were close and safe, but not to be disturbed by... More

We stayed at The Elephant for a weekend to attend a wedding with a lot more of the wedding party also staying there, so it was quite a social event. The hotel staff were all friendly, the room was clean although not over large, quite big enough. Each room was induvidualy decorated to match the given name, ours was the Manderlay,... More
