I attended a friends wedding held at the The Elephant, Pangbourne. Quite an interesting "themed" hotel, in a beautiful location. Nice enough room, but the one I occupied lost all power to the sockets, at some point in the evening. As a result, the desktop fan that was provided could not be utilised. Bearing in mind the current warm weather,... More

We recently enjoyed our daughter's wedding held at the Elephant. It's a delightfully quirky hotel with large comfortable rooms, all individually designed. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant and the food, wines and beers are excellent. We were particularly impressed by their use of local quality produce. Their terrace and garden are wonderful places to relax.... More

A unique experience in a small butiq hotel! Hotel has made sure you will turn in the key at check out by latching a big elephant to the room key. The location is great and people are nice. Many eating joints, pubs in and around the place ...

1. Room terribly small. You ger off your bed and you step on your suitcase. 2. Bathroom- Tabs make a deafening noise when open. 3. Restaurant- Food far below average. 4. Value for money- From zero to ten- TWO

We stayed here to meet up with family and to celebrate a birthday. Our snack lunch in the bar was fine and dinner in the restaurant was good, made even better by our smiling and attentive waitress. When she discovered there was a birthday in our party she produced a small dish of chocolates with a candle in! The room... More

We visit the area quite frequently, but had not stayed in Pangbourne before. In general, we tend to be wary of ‘themed’ or ‘quirky’ places, but The Elephant is fun and works well; the Indian/elephant theme is omnipresent, but isn’t allowed to intrude on functionality; our room, on the garden side of the annex, was quiet, spacious, clean and had... I would just like to thank all the staff at the Elephant for making our weekend so very enjoyable. From the moment we arrived until we left nothing was to much trouble. The food was really lovely, our room which overlooked the garden was also lovely. Special thanks to Irene who never stopped smiling, but also big thanks to everyone else.

We spent one night at here and really enjoyed our stay. I would like to have given a higher rating as the service and the food was very good, . but the little things that need attention, I was unable to read in bed at night as the light was too weak, the hair dryer would not reach to a... More

Had a couple of nights away by myself on business but it still felt like a treat! From reservation to departure all staff were lovely. My very comfortable and beautifully decorated room was in the Annexe. Surprisingly great shower for this type of building. Top quality teas and coffees and complimentary water which makes me very happy. Had supper in... More

This hotel is a bit different from normal with interesting indian/colonial decor & lots of elephants! The public areas (bar, restaurant, lounges & garden) all look good & the staff are friendly. Breakfast is excellent. We had a nice time but be aware of a few downsides which are: There is quite a busy road running next the hotel &... More
