We had planned to stay at this place in early November en route back to our home in Scottsdale. About three days before our trip, I had a serious attack of vertigo and the doc suggested I immediately return to Arizona. I called this place and spoke to the owner and he was COMPLETELY unresponsive to my medical situation. As... More

We apologize you had a negative experience. However, it is necessary for all hotels like ours to have cancellation policies, due to changes in weather and travelers plans. The cancellation policy allows for a 50% refund if the reservation is cancelled before 7 days or 30 days, depending on the size or duration of the reservation. In this case, the... More

Pet friendly, reasonable rates. Vintage resort feel. The main lodge's musky wood smell sends you back in time to a 1950s circa fishing lodge the instant you walk through the door. The main lodge guest area is full of vintage furniture suitable for relaxing and reading a good book, or listening to a guest playing the piano in the front... More

So happy we stayed at Blackbeard's for our first Ocracoke Island experience. If we make it back there, we would definitely stay at this lodge again. Yes, it's old, but, hello...historical. It's also clean & safe. I can't believe the previous complaints from obviously spoiled, uptight human beings!! If you want to stay at a 5 star resort, then you... More

I love this place! It has the look and feel of a bed and breakfast but without the inconvenience of having to eat at a certain time with people you don't know. I loved the rambling layout of the place, with rooms upstairs on the 2nd and 3rd floors as well as apartments on ground level. I can't believe some... More

I took a last minute trip to Ocracoke, NC to visit family who had rented a house for the week. I called 4 hotels to find that there was no vacancy on such short notice. I got the last room at Blackbeard's which was a king on the 2nd floor. I didn't know what to expect because of mixed reviews.... More

The two biggest complaints we read about this place were that the hotel was old, or that the guest had billing discrepancies. I waited until our credit card bill came in before writing this; we did have a dog that we declared at check-in and we did not have his crate with us, but our credit-card was not over-charged for... Thanks for taking the time to review Blackbeard's Lodge. We appreciate your candor and hope you (and your pet) will return to stay again. Our goal is to keep guests happy, but maintain the integrity and history of the building, since it is a historic landmark in Ocracoke. We're glad your experience was a positive one. Happy Fall! We were in Ocracoke for a memorial service, decided to spend the night as it was a 5 hr. return trip.. Yes, it was Labor Day and yes all lodging was full and yes this was the only place left but I still wish I had kept going. The room was small, the bath was small, all the floors was... More

The only way I would stay here again is if my wife and I rented the large suite off of the front porch. The rooms are small and Closter phobic. They are almost uninhabitable if thy stick in one of the wings down the hall. Imagine an undersized bedroom with a boat shower tacked on to it for $125 a... More

I took my parents here for a long overdue vacation!! The suite was clean, neat, and very original!! The staff was AMAZING and made us very comfortable!! I plan on taking them again and this will be where we stay!! Only thing I recommend is renting a golf cart immediately!! There is very little parking in a normal vehicle so... More
