As far as a bare minimum campground goes, this is fine. We actually had a really nice stay except that we made our decision based on the website claim that there was live entertainment on the weekends. One look at the "stage" and it was obvious it had not been used in quite a while. The bathrooms are old and... More

No hassles and trees for shade on my tent. This isbthe most convenient campground on Ocracoke. State campground is miles out of town. This campground is next door to the only bar on the island. Best on Ocracoke. Convenience right next door and the owner is very personable. They let us pitch tents late after the last ferry.

Pulling in I wasn't sure if I was at the right place because it looked so run-down. I figured I'd give them a fair chance and see how things went. Note to self, how you do the little things is indicative of how you do the big things. Nothing at Beachcomber is done very well. The bathroom was in disrepair,... More

This is our second stay at Beachcomber. We enjoy the convenience, the affordability, the clean restrooms, and the friendly staff. We brought a tent and found that the sites are flat, have water, and that our site was equipped for our extension cord. (Last we stayed the outlet was for an RV, so it's hit or miss if you receive... Beachcomber is a little campground behind a general store. It has grassy level sites. W, E, cable, and outdoor showers. It is within the town limits, so golf carts are allowed and there is a rental place right out front. It is not luxurious by any means, but it is clean, convenient, relatively cheap, and one of only 2 campgrounds... More

We wanted to stay close to town so chose the Beachcomber Campround. These are new owners who are trying to make the place nice. We were unable to stay for the music that they feature on certain nights. The food was good We were able to walk to many places in the village. For a private campground it wasn't too... More

Beachcomber Campground is the go to destination for camping on Ocracoke Island, whether it be trailer, tent, or RV. Shawn and Laurie went above and beyond the call of duty during our stay there. Not only did Shawn personally make sure our site was right for us, he checked on us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed.... More

This campground has the potential of being cute, but the owner apparently was fixated instead I'm growing grass on a tiny plot. The bathrooms were in disrepair and not particularly clean. Facilities within the campground were in disrepair. The owner was nice enough, but overall it appeared that he did not feel the need to improve the campground because it... More

I've been staying at this campground off and on since the late 1990's. Most recently, my wife and I stayed there for our anniversary. We felt right at home. The tent site had power and water. We didn't exactly have the proper fire pit that is approved for fires, but rather than tell us to put our fire out, the... More

Our family of 5 went tent camping for two nights here. I can see where other reviewers said it had went downhill but new owners are working on it. Tent sites were grassy (low cut) which was very nice & better than gravel. Bathrooms had clearly been renovated/painted and were clean. First night we had to swat mosquitos while in... More
