Nice employees that checked us in/out, beach is absolutely awesome and only a short walk from our tent. Bathrooms were decent, showers are cold water but its really not any cooler than the ocean water temp. Not a problem for me :)Can't wait to go back Summer 2015!

My latest stay at the campground is my 3rd time there. I tagged along with my brother and met a group of people there, including another brother who has visited Ocracoke for the past 40 years, weather allowing. Typically the visit occurs the second week of October. I think everyone has described the amenities pretty clearly. The main advice I... More

This is a nice, inexpensive option if you want to camp on Ocracoke. You can take the ferry from Hatteras (with your vehicle!) to Ocracoke, FOR FREE, which makes it a really great deal if you want to explore the islands a bit more. This campground is just over the dunes from the water and has the typical cold showers... More

Great great campground not to mention $11.50 per day price! That is with our Golden Age card. $23.00 per day without it. This campground has no hookups. We have no problem with that as we are fully self-contained. Located right on the ocean, you can hear the surf at night; what a delight. Nice grass area to walk our two... More

We were literally one dune away from the ocean. Can't beat falling asleep to the sound of waves every night! Quiet beach and quiet campground with the nicest rangers you'd ever hope to meet. I called ahead since we were arriving after midnight and there was no problem getting registered and set up. The campground is clean; sites have grills... More

Bugs gets first mention here because that's what turned three nights into one. We arrived before sunset and had ample time on a cool July evening to set up camp. We headed down to town and arrived at Jason's five minutes before close and they were nice enough to make us some sandwiches. Brought them back to camp and at... More

Stayed 4 nights in late July 2014 in D loop. Beach is nice and with a modest north wind water was as clear as Atlantic beaches tend to be and was almost emerald hued. Waves made it a little rough for enjoyable swimming except beyond the breakers. We like to fish but couldn't get a 4-oz pyramid sinker to hold... More

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have visited. Being from out of town, we weren't sure what to expect. Not a fan of the way they do reservations...we reserved C Loop and ended up at B9. It was a nice site with our own beach access and close to our bathroom & showers. No one cut through our... More

We had a great time camping here! Easy to find ( it is a tiny island, so not very easy to get lost!), clean & orderly. Having just stayed at a state campground the previous night, it was a nice change to have the bathrooms be clean, lit & not smelly! The NPS system does a wonderful job with keeping... More

Ocracoke campground is in a beautiful location for beach going. We spent almost a week there and planned on being there through July 4th but due to hurricane Arthur we had to leave a few days early (campground closed in anticipation of the storm). We had 2 prime spots in D loop at the very back of the campground. It... More
