This motel has a wonderful location, just two blocks from the pier and walking distance to many restaurants and a sports bar. It has direct access to the beach and views of the ocean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the motel is in desperate need of renovations. The carpeting and furniture are unacceptable -- extremely old, worn... More

Motel staff was very friendly. Great location. Motel is old, but well taken care of. Room was small, but extremely clean. Great mattress. Was overcharged on my bill. Contacted the manager, and was quickly taken care of. Be sure to eat at the Flying Fish restaurant, across the street at the Oak Island Pier. Excellent food. Pool was closed due... More

If you smoke and have dogs you may have no choice on Oak Island. The hotel is run down; outdated; and falling apart. There are no curtains only mini blinds, So bright at night in the room you can read a book without turning on the lights in your room. The window AC will make your ears ring after awhile.... More

I give it a 4 out of 5 primarily because it is NOT a Hylton. But the staff are extremely nice and the place was very clean (though the furnishings were not new or updated). We stayed over a weekend and loved the close proximity to the beach, pier and fresh seafood. The one thing they DON'T tell you is... More

I stayed here with the family and definitely can understand the mixed reviews now. This place is a typical old school beach motel (but at relatively high prices for what you get). The maintenance has been neglected so you will see plenty of dingy/cracked/worn out/run down items in your room. We actually kept our shoes on the entire time in... More

When you own a hotel that is "pet friendly" you also need to make it "human friendly" by taking a few extra steps to make sure it is clean and the pet hair is vaccuumed up from the floor and the beds and that any crusty pet food is not left behind! The couch bed was full of crumbs and... More

Pictures online showed large clean rooms. Room was very small, toilet seat was broken, unable to turn off heat the first night. I paid twice as much as I should have, will never stay there again.

Decided to try a new place so we could take the dog. Rooms were overpriced, horrendously rude staff, regret spending any money there at all. LOOK ELSEWHERE.
