We found the motel online, and the location opp the beach sounded ideal, they even allow dogs which made it perfect. We booked a room for 4 nights and arrived around 7pm after a long car ride. The fact that we were one of only 3 cars at a beachside motel in mid-August immediately raised a red flag. They insisted... More

Three lousy nights before we just walked away after tehy did NOTHING to remedy problems. Overall the accommodations were unsuitable and unsatisfactory and completely failed to me the standard promised in their advertising. For three nights we tried to get the issues resolved unsuccessfully and checked out one day early, moving to the Holiday Inn Express for our final night.... More

If you are looking to take Fido with you and want to be across the street from the beach and around the corner from Caswell beach which is a Pet Friendly (think off the leash until 9am during high season and off the leash all the time otherwise) then this is the place for you. If you have taken your... More

Checked out of a hotel in town when we found this place. It's nothing fancy but has a kitchen and across the street from the beaches and walking distance to Flying fish. Also close by shops and markets you can drive, walk or bike too. Stayed in the first floor directly in front of the beach with a closed in... More

We booked this motel a month in advance as we had a family wedding to attend on Oak Island- I will NEVER EVER book a room again without reading the reviews. The room was clean but that was about it for amenities. This motel needs a major renovation!! Old furnishings and mattress were just the start. The bathroom floor had... More

The main issue with this inn/motel is the price. A king bed room is $132 per night. This room (#110) is extremely small with barely enough room to get dressed in the mornings. The bathroom is also very small. In order to stand in front of the sink you must enter the bathroom, step almost completely in the shower in... More

We headed to Southport to spend the night and first stopped by the Driftwood Motel out on Oak Island. We didn't even get out of the car- just backed out and came to the Island Resort down the street. It was like night and day! There were a lot of cars in the parking lot but the sign said 'Vacancy"... More

Stepping into this room is like traveling back in time, because everything is very old and outdated, sort of like walking into a poorly funded nursing home. The room itself is tiny; the first thing you notice is the smell. They use a lot of bleach to cover up the old moldy smell. It's almost like going camping, except you're... More

My husband and I made reservations for one nite based on good reviews. Knowing it would be out dated ok with that. We checked in and opened our door and was immediately hit with a strong cigarette smell. I am pregnant and would not have made this reservation had we been told it is a smoking facility. The bedspread was... More

This motel has a wonderful location, just two blocks from the pier and walking distance to many restaurants and a sports bar. It has direct access to the beach and views of the ocean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the motel is in desperate need of renovations. The carpeting and furniture are unacceptable -- extremely old, worn... More
