The hosts of the Inn... John and Betty were terrific... very accomodating and helpful. This lovely Inn is located just a couple of blocks from all that is happening in New Bern. Very comfortable rooms... and a VERY comfortable bed... a rarity in our experience with B&B's in our experience. Reasonable prices as well... excellent breakfast and coffee available at... More

John and Betty were very sweet and helpful, and even took out the newspaper to find the time of the movie we wanted to see. We stayed in the "oriental room", which was decorated accordingly and tastefully. The bed was a little small for two people (I was traveling with my 15 year old daughter), and I would have preferred... More

We travel with 3 other couples every year and always stay in B & B's if possible. This year we chose New Bern, NC and Meadows Inn. John & Betty are excellent hosts, very friendly and attentive to our every need and want. The rooms were very comfortable, spacious and clean. Our breakfasts were very good. The inn is within... We were in New Bern trying to see if this was our place to retire. John and Betty were perfect hosts, going from being our inn keepers to advisers. First the stay was very comfortable, extremely clean and period perfect. Breakfast was great and fun. When we first arrived Betty and John gave us space but as we became better... More

We were in town for the NC Main Street convention and found this B&B to be lovely. Property is very well cared for and maintained. John and Betty were attentive and helpful in so many ways - great advice on things to do with our free time. Our stay was relaxing and informative. We couldn't have asked for a better... More

My stay was very pleasant at the Meadows Inn. John and Betty were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the atmosphere homey. Just 1-2 blocks from the river, river walk and downtown historical district made for easy walks and sightseeing. Thanks to George, the Delta agent, and hotels.com for helping me locate this place. I'd definitely come... More

My husband and I are currently from New Bern and just wanted a little staycation weekend so we thought lets stay at a B&B in downtown. I'm so glad we chose Meadows Inn. My husband and I took a little after-Christmas trip first visiting Asheville and then New Bern. (I am a Nicholas Sparks' fan and wanted to visit his little town.) Based on the location and their New Year's Eve special, I chose The Meadows Inn on-line and made reservations for a three-night stay. The special included afternoon appetizers/beverages, dinner reservations at... More

We stay at this B & B several times a year. We don't consider staying anyplace else. We love the atomosphere and the inn keepers. They are the type of people who want there guests to be happy and comfortable. Anything you want or need you just ask and they do their best to accomodate you. We have recommended this... More

The Innkeepers, Mr. & Mrs. Foy are excellent hosts. We enjoyed their company as well as their very thorough recommendations for things to do in New Bern, Betty took the time to point out on a map all the places we might be interested in going during our stay. The house is beautiful, especially so considering it was built in... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
History of Meadows Inn. Original structure was built in 1847 by John Alexander Meadows and enlarged to it’s three story size in 1900. It began it's history as the premiere Bed & Breakfast in New Bern in 1980. Nestled peacefully in the heart of downtown historic district and walking distance to the Tryon Palace and Garden, excellent restaurants, antique shops, the birthplace of Pepsi, the riverfront convention center and river walk are just a few of the many activities to discover. Plan a trip to New Bern, the second oldest town in the state. The mild weather allows you to enjoy all that New Bern has to offer. You will find something blooming most any time of the year. This faith and family Inn is the perfect base for planning either a quiet, romantic getaway, girlfriend reunion, dinner/theatre, family outing, daytrip to the beach, or simply discover where North Carolina began at the Tryon Palace tour. ... more   less
