I had an excellent stay at the Tarheel motel. My family will be back! Great price great stay great staff! Staff was very attentive and friendly. Treated our family like we were part of theirs. Can't wait to visit again next year!

It's older, but has more charm than the commercialized places mostly seen here. The staff is great, really friendly. Love the pool, it's great for kids! Clean rooms, no bugs! It's more affordable than most places too!

Clean, great staff, nice pool area, affordable prices. A great place to stay with kids. We were impressed with the vintage style. Great lighting outside. Easy beach access an a pool as well. We really enjoyed our week spent at the tarheel motel.

When I'm in the OBX I choose to stay in a family owned hotel. This hotel is located right across from the ocean close to all the restaurants and shopping centers food and souvenirs alike! If you don't want to spend your entire budget on a hotel stay at the Tarheel. It is the place for the entire family! It may... More

Positives: near beach access, well lighted parking area next to the room, clean sheets and firm but comfortable beds. Negatives: musty smelling, loud AC, blinds on the windows do not keep out light from the parking lot, rundown and in need of serious maintenance, despite having the door sign out early that the room was available there was no maid... We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. The Tar Heel Motel is an older motel and reflects the old school style of the Outer Banks. However, all the bathrooms have been replaced and updated this past winter with all new vanities, commodes, and tiled floors. Carpets have been professionally cleaned prior to the... More

My second stay. The place was built before 1960. It is in pretty good shape to be that old. Close to public parking to the beach or walk there. It is within sight of the public entrance. Close to anything you may want to see while at the Outer Banks. I had an issue with the WI-FI. That problem turned out... More

We stayed one night at this motel.. It is an Old Motel, however it was clean, and quiet. Wifi was horrible. I took the word of AAA Tour Book to find a place to stay for one night and well don't think I would stay here again.

I just want to say that the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I had reservations for the weekend, I live 3 hrs away and they close at 9. I had some issues come up and I called and the staff stayed late and made it available for me to get my room even though I was going to be... More

A tired old style motel at first rate prices. It was clean, Service was so- so. No morning coffee, Office didn;t open until 9am. No ice in the machine in the morning. There are better opportunities in Nags Head.

The staff was very accommodating when rooms were reserved. It is close to the beach and other activities. The pool is nice. The beds rated as one of the two worst sleeping experiences in my life. Soooo uncomfortable. The room smelled bad when we first entered but that improved with our two night stay. The linoleum in the bathroom was... More
