This motel is not a Hilton...but I don't think that's a bad thing. The rooms are not what you would find in a nicer hotel, but since this isn't a Hilton, the employees are able to be more accommodating and flexible than in any full service or even, self-service hotel. There are pool toys provided in the pool area, residents... More

We stayed for a week in the two bedroom apartment that sleeps up to 10 with our family of 7. We enjoyed the stay very much. When I asked if their was a larger pan available for cooking they went out and bought one for me. I can't think of any better service. The house keeping staff were wonderful all... More

Nice overall Inn. Needs remodeling, more parking for sure. Staff was very polite and helpful. There were a few things wrong with our room and these things were fixed immediately. WIFI...was horrible at best. With teenagers with us that was a huge disappointment. Beach was literally within feet...pool was very nice and well kept.

Patricia, thanks for the review. We did some renovations in 2012, 2013, and 2014, but seeing as the Colonial Inn is an older property, there are always things that can be improved. The limited parking is sometimes a hassle, but we do have the overflow parking lot that is less than a quarter of a mile away. We certainly apologize... More

Our family has stayed at Colonial Inn since I was little and the pier was owned by Joe Justice. It is what it is, a smaller, historically older, out dated motel.. but that is what gives it character. That being said... we did have a few issues. We traveled as a family of 11 (4rooms oceanfront) to remember my sister.... More

My husband and I spent a week in one of the beachfront rooms for our honeymoon and it was wonderful!! The beach was literally steps away from the door and the staff was so nice! The proximity of other restaurants and local sites (Tortuga's Lie, Seaside Art Gallery, Nags Head Pier) made being able to imbibe with a meal and... More

The Colonial Inn is reasonably priced but its age is showing. Shower was small and moldy. Also if your party has more than one car the other ones have to be parked down the street about two blocks away.

I sincerely apologize you didn't fully enjoy your stay with us. Our parking lot is admittedly on the smaller side and I am sorry for any inconvenience. Due to it being smaller we want to ensure everyone that stays with us has a place to park. This is why we ask those with multiple vehicles to park in our over... More

Older motel but meets our needs. Nags Head pier is right next door and the beach is just over the dune. Everyone was happy. Great staff! Smallish, but OK rooms. Tight parking. Nice pool. Kitchens in efficiencies not well stocked so bring a pot for crab legs! Some bathrooms are very tight so "Big People Beware!"

My wife and I stayed here for almost a week during Memorial Day, along with our two year old. We stayed in a 2 BR apartment, which wasn't large but afforded us the amount of room that we needed. The staff was very helpful, we had an issue with our car that forced us to stay an extra night, and... More

Jim - I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the feedback. After reading this email I can tell you that the owner and I have talked and we are discussing a solution to putting AC/Heat units in the bedrooms of our apartments. I think it is a wonderful idea and certainly worth looking into. We... More

I stayed here in May when my daughter and I were in Nags Head for a wedding. The cost of this motel was high considering the poor shape the property is in. This motel prides itself on its long history in Nags Head, but I don't think they have updated this place since the 60's. Room was very small and... More

I sincerely appreciate the feedback as it only helps us improve. The Colonial Inn was purchased by its current owner in the spring of 2011. Each year there have been significant upgrades to improve the guest experience while maintaining the overall historical culture of the Colonial Inn. The beds were purchased brand new in 2012 and are Serta branded. The... More

Virginia - I am truly sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. The beds were replaced less than two years ago with name branded Serta's however sometimes it is difficult to find a level of firmness for everyone.
