Every room in this very basic oceanfront motel is ocean facing. Great views -- especially from the second & third floors. While a first floor room might make for convenience, the views are largely obstructed by the sand dunes. Booked a one night before renting a home in Duck for the week. Woman at front desk was RUDE! The sheets and blankets were itchy and the bathroom was DIRTY! Soap was lye based I think! Do not stay here!!! more

The Blue Heron Motel is perfectly placed at MP 16.5 in Nags Head. There is a nice, locally-owned grocery store about 1 mile down the road, and at least 5, Avg. or better restaurants in a 5 mile radius.
