My husband and I were looking for a place to stay that would not break the bank. So we booked a room at the Dolphin Motel. Low rates, super friendly/family based service! We stayed in a non oceanfront room with two double beds. The rooms were smaller, but very charming. The bathroom tiling dates back to the 60's or so.... more

The Dolphin is under new management in 2009 and much cleaner and friendlier than indicated by last year's reviews. Our small, pet-friendly, non-smoking room was not among those recently renovated, which some of the other motel guests said were in good shape. We had a tile floor with stained grouting, and the tiny bathroom had a vanity sink with a... more

The first room we had was a dump. I requested another room and the one I got wasnt all that much better. I had to do some cleaning. It was our first trip to the outer banks. The location was great, its a shame the hotel is kept in that condition. I will find a different place next trip. more

This place is awful. The room had a serious mold problem. When we complained, we were told "what do you expect, you're near the ocean". I have stayed at many ocean side locations and never had this problem. When I got home, I developed a serious respiratory infection. The bathroom was dirty and the toilet had not been cleaned. We... more

OK......so it's not the Taj Mahal But.....you can bring your dog! Yes...the place is really dated....from the 60's at least but it was clean.....had a small but clean pool. The best.....it is directly on beach. Walk thru an open breezeway and your on their deck that puts you right on the sand and feet from the water! Beach is uncrowded... more

This place was far from luxurious. It is a seaside motel on the south side of Nags Head's congested swath (approx. from mile marker 16 north). Right near the start of the Cape Hatteras National seashore. The beach in front of the motel was not very busy at all, which was nice. The motel is right on the beach with... more

The hotel is located directly on the beach. It's a classic motel that hasn't been updated much. Our room was decently clean, but it was by no means fancy. The staff were helpful, but we didn't have much interaction with them. The regular rooms have absolutely no view, but the beach is only yards away. They even have a swingset... more

This might be a good fisherman's stay...but we came from an upscale place so it was a bit of a "shock" for us and it wasn't the greatest for us....we survived and would look for something better next time. Just mostly very old. We were treated fine. more

we stayed at the Dolphin with our dog, while we were there, she passed away, so we decided to bring her body home early. We were not refunded for the time that we did not stay at the motel, we requested the refund, and it isn't like we didn't have a good reason for leaving. Also, the bathroom was terrible,... more
